Stairwell:
But how do I get there?
I can't jump that high. I'm not a good player, run+space?
Sorry, I actually meant the second-highest door, I wasn't thinking about the highest one because you're right, you can't jump it (with or without heels
). Go in the second-highest door marked with white keycard, you'll have to climb some boxes.
A mine or explosion etc. doesn't open the door, in the room with the button (step-open)
. The first time I saw zombies there ; I reloaded the game. There are currently no zombies in the room.
Unfortunately the step button / pressure plate thing strictly requires a zombie, so if there are none then I guess you can't open it.
But the good news is, it's just a shortcut, it opens up to where you had to roll under a moving fan. You can still get back there by backtracking from where you first encounter the human militants!
Speaking of that area next to the fan, if anyone's not sure how to open this room:
There is a small explosive barrel in the corner that you can shoot through the window to blow open the door. For some reason I couldn't hit it with the pistol, but rifle worked.
spoiler alert
Basement: First room with a weapon (pistol) before fighting the worms (Those worms would be perfect for a sex scene, wasted potential). I'm asking more for someday. Someday I'll fight on a difficult level
For the basement (B3, I guess) gun room:
The cracked wall can be broken by an explosion. In this image, I've already done that. You can either very carefully toss a grenade through the broken door, or more safely go all the way around which you'll need to do anyway to get inside.
The path is something like this. Green is the gun room, bright red is the path to get there from either the ladder (dark red, top) or starting room (dark red, bottom), grey is unrelated tunnels/rooms. I
really should have drawn walls, but I didn't, whoopsie. I initially drew this at a size of like 15 pixels across and then resized it when I realised it was too small to see, haha
Side note: Good job getting through B2 without the pistol!
Happy to help! I tend to flip-flop between Black Widow and different versions of Lara Croft myself
By the way, if you update to
version 0.5.0.2, the mirror in the very first bed/storage/mirror room at A2 has been changed to a full wardrobe, so it's possible to retrieve ALL the costumes you've unlocked! However, they gave a vague warning about possible issues when loading a story save from an older version, so I'm not sure what might happen. Well, even if there are bugs, you could probably switch back to the older version after grabbing the costumes?
Easy diff - normal zeds take 1 headshot to kill, pretty much "walk in the park" outside of few moments.
Normal - 2 headshots. Finished game today on this diff. Predators are pain w/o zombie smasher, otherwise it`s the normal as it gets.
Conserving ammo - idk, zeds die only from headshots or explosives, In 0.4.9 they would die from leg loss after 30secs.
They actually can die from body shots, it just takes a ridiculous amount of damage. If I recall correctly, even on Easy a standard walker with no crystal can take 3 point blank shotgun blasts to the gut before exploding into a shower of gore on the fourth shot. Potentially even more due to the unreliability of shotguns. They do still die sometimes after losing their legs, but I haven't investigated that much. Sometimes it happens pretty quick though, maybe because the AI decides it can't reach you or something so there's no point? Feels like squirters in particular tend to just die if they can't stand up, maybe because they're exclusively ranged attackers and can't do that while crawling. Not sure.
EDIT: As an additional note on conserving ammo, I would say don't be afraid to spend your ammo because theoretically you have as much ammo as you have
patience — even before you get access to shops, there are ammo supply boxes that re-open after a certain amount of time or after reloading a save, so if you keep visiting them, you can end up with more ammo than you'll ever need. Most of them give random ammo (including grenades and mines, but NOT including arrows, daggers, or axes, so be sure to always retrieve those!), but there's one that always gives a large amount of assault rifle ammo.
Personally I still tend to go stabby stabby with my knife a lot and hoard my ammo until I really need it, but it's just a habit. Or sometimes I will tap a zombie with 1 pistol shot just to stun them, then quickly switch to knife to perform a finisher on them while they're stunned, since it's a bit safer that way.
