So there is a game called Shadow of Desire by SHAMANDEV that I really like. It started out really good with the triangle characters. You got three route, cheating, cuckold and blackmail. You got the MC, main girl, and the antagonist. There are side chicks and side quest to get distracted with, but SHAMANDEV was mainly focusing on the big three. But just like King of Summer as the chapters started to progress, SHAMANNDEV started to add a bunch of random characters, plot and decision that made the game really messy and random, the interest in investing in the story got lost.Yeah I think by far the biggest Problem with Arato is his introduction. That and how other characters behave around him.
At first he just gets introduced and it's no big deal. He's just kindof there having an occasional scene of annoying Mary, but not much else. But then he kindof kidnaps the plot because he's needed for a big plot moment and the dev didn't really set him up that much before hand. So you just get one huge scene after another of just arato, arato and more arato.
And the problem isn't just if you dislike Arato himself, but that other characters behave differently around him and if you like how those characters act normally, then there's just nothing to enjoy about those scenes. Mary isn't fun and cheery anymore, Shizuka isn't subtle and mysterious anymore. You can't enjoy the normal personality of the characters you like, because they don't act like that anymore and you don't enjoy Arato. So it's just a big stretch of plot that's just filled with stuff you don't particularly enjoy.
But it's not all that bad. Once the game gets it out of it's system and finally reaches that big plot moment, depending on what route you choose, you're back to mostly the usual three with Arato just lurking in the background.
So if someone gets to that point and really doesn't like the Arato content, I would honestly recommend just looking up with choices lead to the kendo route, enable skipping unseen content and skip towards the scene with the final route choice. If you don't like Arato and his stuff then there's not much you loose by skipping those scenes till then.
Characters started to 180 in their characters, that you are like WHAT? So in this path, they love the antagonist, but in this route, they hate the antagonist? But in the other path they both hate and love the antagonist? They break the immersion, consistency, and everything just felt lazy and forced. I started to feel like I don't wanna read anything when I am so invested in the main characters original plot. I just don't care about these random character that were not fleshed out? But I am force to read about them when SHAMANDEV left me in on a cliff hanger with the original three characters?
I end up skipping everything to get the characters I was invested in. Anyways, I am not saying I am a great story teller, but once I start my journey in my own NTR game, animation and stories, I wont make this choice. I will stick to a main plot and the side quest are but optional, or if not skippable, wont mess with the main plot. If there are new characters that are planned to add, they will be flesh out in their own story that will then be introduced in the universe later, or side by side.
I love both of your works! You both inspire me to go out and spend a huge amount of money to upgrade my PC that is coming in two to three weeks times to start my own series. I am studying blender, 3d Daz, photoshop and many more. I am thankful for both you! One day! My NTR series will come to light!
