Hey dev, no hate here, I looked at some of the images and videos, and in my opinion the remade barbarian's face looks... inferior. Is there a particular reason for the model change? Perhaps incompatibility? Or did you never really mean to make barbarian look the way she did in the first place?... and was more like "it is what it is"? Or am i just tripping

I've been following your game Unity Barbarian since the beginning and now I'm faced with the same Barbara Girl but on the Unreal platform. You have the courage, bro, to throw all the Unity updates in the trash to start the same story from scratch... For me, this game, for all this time in Unity without having an end, has already given what it had to give and I want to distance myself from that... but even so, good luck with that.
I know that you want money, but your last game is free, and if you install a paywall, i dont supscribe this game!

Interesting stuff, been keeping an eye on this game for a while, but never tried it out. Hopefully the engine switch will prove beneficial.

ok, i'm understand today trends in "who pays the bills society", but let's be honest just for one answer.
1)thanks for your "clear-minded" policy with "old-builds-for-free".
2) you did a great job with unity and within restrictions of this engine in past.
3)if you finish your unity project, or set it to EA status near end, i, as many other citizens of post-ussr, that unplugged from SWIFT system, can support you, without of patreon-sub systems. Coz there is ways to pay for a project on steam. And "No" to such scam as "Tinkoff bank" and other.
4)thank, to not adding any obfuscation plugins/system either on unity or UE5.
first of all, there is a bunch of such devs, that think this will slow down users from paid content or paid walls... but as you could know, in contrary, there is a bunch of dumpers->debuggers->dissect structure tools on both sorts of unity and on UE4-UE5. this will only set angry users, that will spend much time to get real functions.
so thank for "clear-mind" in this too, for past years.
5)stay on you main line, we have already many "pretty girl", "furry crap", " ahegao crap", could this game be this time without popular crap from "cartoons for adults".
7)have a good luck, energy in batteries, and keep a fair mind, even if paycheck want your soul.
Viktor Black - Just some feedback, a lot of progress in preview build 1.
1. You are one of the most professional developers out there and I don't see this as a milking exercise. I still think a totally new game would have been a better option but I see how this is quicker to build.
2. Compared to the original demo of Last Barbarian graphically (inc lighting) this is a massive improvement. Everyone has said this so it is pointing out the obvious. I missed the sexy walk of the first game (just ran) ;-)
3. Combat is not an improvement, neither is the sex location. Moving the character back to a cell or a fixed furniture location I think is better for clipping and camera angles. One event clipped into a brazier. Dialogue still is not great, but I'm aware the barbarian is intended to be stupid.
4. On things that I think will be fixed only irritations were respawning of enemies and constant equipping of axes. On respawning one of my saved games was in a cleared area but when I loaded it I found the two enemies were back. When I was doing the puzzle the fireball throwing enemies kept coming back. With the axes having to reequip them after events was annoying, as well as having to toggle them on and off to open doors and interact.

I may be alone in this, but my main critique of this new version so far is the hair for the Barbarian. It looks awful to me. Even though the hair in the original was pretty outdated, it still looked better to me. I hope you have plans of either updating or making a new hairstyle for her. Wish you luck.

Have you played the latest version of the original Last Barbarian? 6 years and massive massive massive amounts of content!
The original is more or less completely finished. Nothing is being thrown away and the new game be it a remake/reboot/whatever it is is extremely desired for anyone who has played the original Last Barbarian and finished all the content in the game
Currently it is about a 10-20 hour experience to see all the content in the original Last Barbarian so it is an absolutely massive game and I think everyone who has played it is more than ready to move on to a new game, with new content, in a new engine with new graphics
I feel like all the comments here bitching about the old game being abandoned or 6 years going down the drain or whatever else nonsense haven't played the Unity version of Last Barbarian or at least not the latest version of it as it is absolutely massive and few people wish to see it continued any further there is only so much content you can put in a game before it becomes too bloated and too long winded to enjoy any further. Not to mention the boredom of the same engine, same setting and same, now outdated graphics
Viktor Black has chosen the perfect time to move on to a new engine and a new game as the Unity Last Barbarian has definitely run its full course and surely the dev by now is well fedup of working on the same game. I know I certainly would be by now and it isn't like it is was left with nothing. The Last Barbarian, again to reiterate is an insanely content rich game. It has quests, it has storylines/questlines it has countless h-animations and entire h-sequences a lot of work has gone into Last Barbarian but it is time to move on to new and exciting grounds and oh how the new Unreal Last Barbarian is a pure work of art. Super hyped to see what comes of it!
judging by the current trend of switching engine games on this site, I'd say it's just a new way to roll out minuscule updates every 4 months and continue to milk that patreon money.
I don't understand the negativity yet. Not sure if i miss soemthing but the game is for a "Demo" pretty solid. I played the Unity one also and i have to say this one is on a very good track.
It's not a lot to do right now but seeing other dev posts it looks like we are in the state of "making the foundation and base mechanics". Thats a good approach to do it like this and later add the content.
The things which are already there are quite nice.
I just hope in the end or at some point there will be a "one time" support me (like buy it) instead of Patreon.

I do prefer the protagonist of the original game. This new one is nice but is not really rustling up my jimmies.
