Despite what others are telling you, it certainly feels like itll be the case - I say that as a fellow non incest fan - most of them are massively overreading into what constitutes a few lines of dialogue in the game. It seems like you can commit to Alexa and rekindle things, or move on to someone else.

Oh god, I just picked this game and... what the hell? How did I miss this gem? I'm trying not to laugh out loud at 1AM in the morning.
I mean I was already impressed with how different choices lead to vivid dialogues which already showed ample care and depth for writing, but then came the "count to grant the challenge or not" and...

The Last Challenge Season 1 Chapter 2b - change-log
Took a bit longer than what I wanted but the new update is almost here. I stated many times that I’m not happy with this update since it’s short and doesn’t move the story forward much, but you and me both need to realize that a game this caliber needs some time to get going. A lot of work has to go into it; it’s not just renders and animations a ton of code and game mechanics have to be built up from scratch, characters have to be created, different environments have to be made, props have to be re-textured to fit the universe I imagined.
I’m not gonna bullshit you, things will move slowly for some time, but after the foundation of the game is established, things will speed up. Especially once I am able to afford second PC.
First of all, what is this update?
Your choices have consequences; this branch is a perfect example of how impactful some of them are. In Chapter 1 v0.1.3 of my game you could take Samantha in the restroom to have sex with her. At the time only the quickie option was available due to how big of an impact the other choice (this one) has on how the story unfolds.
In this update you will be able to select the other choice where you fuck Samantha without rushing, but like I said your actions have consequences and the bus leaves without you.
In this path you will learn new things about Meteor Valley, meet totally new characters, learn a bit more about the MC’s past in Meteor Valley. Of course, you won’t learn EVERYTHING at once since a lot happened in 10 years and it can't be all revealed in one update. The story will unfold slowly, this is just a small piece of the puzzle.
This major branch, splits into 3 smaller branches. Chapter 2b, Chapter2c, and Chapter 2d
This update will focus on Chapter 2b. The story is taking place somewhat at the same time while the bus is on the way back to Rosewood. I wanted to clarify this since I heard about some Einstein on a certain site thinking that the other paths are alternate versions of the story where the pandemic didn’t happen or some other stupid shit like that lmfao. If you want accurate info about my game, ask me instead of listening to every fool who might not even have the brain capacity to understand a simple story line lol.
Why not continue the story from where the last update left off? (at the Lost City)
I said this before, I can’t afford the assets that I need for those parts yet. I don’t have much support yet, and taxes and various fees are a bitch. After all the taxes and various fees, I end up receiving only a bit more than half of my total earnings. So, I need time to save up for all the stuff that I need since this game is expensive as hell to make.
No release date yet.
The game is probably 97% finished. Due to some stupid ass decisions, I’m still rendering… Like an idiot I left the cutscenes to render last and my dumbass forgot that thunderstorms are a thing this time period. I need to turn my PC off and unplug everything, every time there’s a storm since lightning strikes are frequent.
Aside from this I also give my subscribers render rewards each month, which are 4k and usually 10 pictures. And oh boy they take some time to render. Fml haha
While I’m rendering, I’m also testing the shit out of the game, since one of my own rules is that I don’t release a buggy game. I’m also tweaking the UI there’s always some little things to be done.
So, the game is not quite ready yet but it's very close to being finished. Not everything is rendered out and I don’t want to give you a release date and hype people up when things are a bit unpredictable. Will the game be done by the 30th? It is a big possibility… but if there are storms and if I need to turn my PC off again and lose hours of render time it won’t be done. So, I’m not gonna give a release date until everything is rendered out.
After everything is finished, I will make a separate post with the update dates.
Save file compatibility
You will have to start a new game, Chapter 2a v0.2.0 save files are not compatible.
Do not try to mod or use old save files the game will spit out errors at you. This is not one of those games that have 3 variables and that’s it. Almost every encounter choice, dialogue option ties into a different variable in order to make this game non-linear as possible, and to make the characters actually remember the shit that’s happening through the game.
The save files will probably break with new updates up until v0.5.0 once the foundation and all the different game mechanics are fully functional. After v0.5.0 the save files will fully work with every update up to season 6-7.
How do you get on this path?
The quickest and easiest way is to do the following:
Be aggressive with Murphy when taking over the Challenge. Choke him and make him accept you the takeover, this will get Samantha excited and she will start coming onto you. Picking her up and taking her to the restroom is the quickest way to get to the sex scene but you can mess around with other options. After you're in the restroom with her, take your time fucking her and that’s it. Previous choices throughout the game doesn’t affect this story path in this update but this update only not through the rest of the game.
The Last Challenge Chapter 2b update contains the following:

I won't lie, I legit got excited for a moment presuming the game was nearly complete. But then the blood flowed back from my dick to the brain and I realized that the dev probably meant "the update was nearly complete". I really need to stop doing this..

Really disappointing that we are getting 3 updates in a row, of a branch not making the bus. I am personally invested in the bus leaving branch.
I also think this much branching early on, isn't my favorite or good, long term, since it will create even more branching in the future. Making things even more complex.
Now we get to wait, what, 2-3 years to get back to Lexa, maybe get to the some actually family action if we are lucky, with it now being 3 updates of not making bus branch. I am patient, but still, no progression on that route is a problem.
The bus branch is not even that long, so we get shafted on content, and this path will get considerably more content and longer than the home trip path, while also waiting a long time for more.
Just very disappointed and let down, I was so excited for this game, now, idk.

national park HDRIs are pretty cheap after all, a few park benches and you're good to go!

Hmm... while I'm not really taking sides here, I think I understand the dev's intentions.
When I played the game, I went into each choice in great detail to explore different branchings. But, my original pick during the maid scenario was to actually chat her up. I didn't want to be a dick to her for no reason, and neither was I hot about the idea to to be a Casanova who fvks everything that moves. I was also interested in collecting information for all characters so, I went the "good guy, who romances first" route which panned out pretty nicely with her. However the ending sequence of that scene felt odd to me.
After a good chat and she turning me down for a good time, she instead offers me a spot to crash in case there was no other bus till tomorrow. But that doesn't really happen as your bro makes extra sure you catch the bus no matter what. Either way, I just dismissed it off as something that was just an offer and not a commitment. And since she already gave her address, I presumed the MC can come back later to visit anyway.
But if the dev wants to flesh that branch out first, I believe we should let him cook. Don't get me wrong, I do agree, too many branches already is just going to overwhelm his workload, but I think he knows that better than anyone. It is his rodeo after all. All we can do is wait and there is no point getting anxious while doing so.

yeah this game have a scope problem. either this game won't be finished 6-7 years from now yet, but it will be great, or it will be abandoned.
problem is dev been cooking since october 2023, it's now june 2025 and the game hasn't even leave prologue yet

To be fair, and that is if this is accurate, he is one guy, with limited monetary support, one PC and working on a game with tons of branches. Not that I am defending waiting a decade for a game to finish but I have seen games far older offering far less. To be fair I have also seen games as young as this that offer far more as well.
In short, I understand your frustration and I share on it to a certain extent. But if the above is accurate, I'm fairly sure even dev has now started to feel the pressure of time. Hence his stress upon "pace will pick up soon". Lets see if that happens or...

1,000 Renders in half a year is simply bullshit.
He lives in Australia...... so summer is really hot and his house almost burned down. But i know, its all devs fault and anything they make is never enough. Plus this is just his passion project and like everyone without sufficient support he needs to do normal work to live.

As an Aussie myself the lightning issue is 100% bullshit though- QLD the state with the most lightning strikes is only bad for a couple of months and nothing that a surge protector which one can buy for less than $100 which, if he lives in a lightning prone area would already be fitted otherwise they would be buying new tv and fridge every storm
His house almost burning down has nothing to do with lightning storm. Do you know how hot computer get in a small room while rendering scenes in summer? The dev said the computer would occasionally get too hot and shutdown while rendering.

Look at the amount of branching the dude is already planning on + a pregnancy chance mechanic, that’s going to add even more branching and shit + characters potentially dying in branches + having like 20 positions in every sex-scene + once again, the insane amount of branching… it’s wild.
I wish him all the best, but honestly man. I think we have another Summers Gone situation here, being that maybe my Grandkids will be able to see the finished product…
