kind of wonder what will happen if you dont go through with it because on my "main save" I don't intend to complete the challenge. I just want to romance Lexa and maybe some other girls on separate saves

Hopefully the Dev has worked that out- the question is why must these challenges be fulfilled?
It doesn't seem like its just bragging rights- I suspect there is something much deeper going on
Oh that at the start? That was just them talking shit, didn't sound like it was much to read in to. Besides, even taken literally, that says nothing about their friendship.
The only possible way I can see people putting any weight on such a silly banter moment is if they're simultaneously both a) huge incest fans and b) poor at reading between the lines.
This was a small moment of shittalk, an inconsequential part of the broader story. Despite the game's name, note the total lack of incest themes or tag aside from that fleeting conversation.

As I mentioned in my other post- there is most likely (hopefully) a reason why they all take the challenges so seriously
Yes, inconsequential in the current game, as in less than 50 lines of script dedicated to any reference of mothers and sisters out of nearly 40,000. As in 0.01%.
That's not to say it wont play a more major role in the future, I don't know where the game will go, but the current version spends little time on this, thus my original confusion at the other guy's comment at how donnie was such a bad guy for the challenge.
I am curious; Is your take that nukes were inconsequential during the "cold war", since despite being an explicit threat, and being the central theme of the broader narrative, no one was dropping bombs yet?

Let's be honest. Writing incest is ... challenging. There's an inherent psychological barrier to fucking your family members. It's a visceral reaction in the majority of people. Not to say you can't goon to it (or that I judge you), but in a realistic* story its very hard to overcome that barrier and realistically it would happen slowly, over the course of months (then very quickly towards the end) as two related people made consistent tiny steps toward the taboo, all the while choosing NOT to course correct like a regular person would. Basically what's happening with the AVN "Light of my Life".
But if you don't want a slow burn that takes months you need one of the aforementioned ridiculous reasons to speed things up. Hence, the MC has been away for ten years which makes his family not feel like family, and he now has a bet to 'force' him to fuck them.
So don't blame Donny, he's a victim of the plot needing SOMEONE to create an inciting incident to kick of the incest content. Blame the genre itself and the (probably smart) decision to kick things off fast.
Side note, why is this game 9 fucking gigs with the content it has? It should be half that.

Going with samantha doesnt matter with lexa and anette fighting, if the mc doesnt threatens naomi
I tried both ways but when i didnt strangle john at start and decide to hurt naomi, the fight between them didnt happen

Dev has mentioned that there will be a moment that you can forgo the challenge, but it will come with consequences yet unknown (it might become a branching point in the story, who knows). So yeah, you can eventually choose not to go through with it, if the dev doesn't change his mind. Given he has a lot of story already planned out, I kinda doubt that will happen.
