This and Sengoku Rance (and the other two similar Alice Soft games) are the only games I felt that way about through Rance was more due to the gameplay while this one is through the story.

The Rance series itself is one of the most well established RPG and story in the industry. It presents a surprising amount of themes and details that you wouldn't expect from an eroge, but at the same time only an eroge can really portray (depictions of rape, brutal deaths etc). At the very least, I don't think a gangbang-to-death H-scene will ever make it in live action in any form, unless you dabble in illegal stuff.

In fact, I'm kinda surprised how modern entertainment are constantly dialing back on the maturity scale. It's almost like they pretend that we're all children who are easily susceptible to outside influence, and not mature, responsible adults who can swallow a controversial topic, digest it and take something positive away from it. For example, you may think that there's nothing you can possibly learn from an extended rape scene. But if you believe that, why do you think you can learn from an extended scene of violence, gore and death, which are considered "exciting" in the current climate? Should you be excited/having fun watching a body being shot, mutilated, or cut into several pieces? The logical answer is no, but that's a legitimate selling point for many games, especially horror games such as Dead by Daylight or Killing Floor. Do you see an increase in violent crimes where the bodies are severely mutilated? I'd argue no because the correlation doesn't exist. If it does, it applies to an extremely small percentage of people only. Our norm will be very different otherwise.

Just because you play a violent game doesn't mean you're going to turn into a violent killer. Just because you watch rape porn doesn't make you a rapist. Hence, adult games should always have adult themes and trust its audience to be able to handle them maturely. It's your choice to shy away from them or not, but to impose the same restriction on others and indirectly cultivate an increasingly childish audience is ridiculous. We can separate between virtual and reality, stop taking away our choices and coddle us like goddamn babies.

It gets even more annoying when people suggest changing historical literature and records because they contain/promote unhealthy themes, but I've already ranted too much so I'll stop here.

While I would say it balances out more later on, in terms of Simon being more exclusively a leader and delegating command to his specialists in their respective fields, early on he kind of knows a bit too much about everything. I think it was just a necessary plot device until all the talented women were added to his list of allies, Megail and Sarai only properly join his side by the end of chapter 1, but we need economical and theological context before that happens so Simon just happened to "pick up" those things while being a soldier and then being a single father.

One could argue he learned about those things when he was in his "find a way of defeating the Incubus King" world trip but it is still a bit iffy, why would an atheist look into theology for a source of real power? Also I don't feel he stopped being the top dog in the political aspect until Iris joined the harem, I don't remember Janine showing that much political expertise outside of what she does following Simon's plans, at least until chapter 4 anyway.

While I would never say Simon is a "Gary Stu", he is definitely quite a bit of a renaissance man, not that there is anything wrong with that, not every protagonist needs to have character development starting from zero.

Simon is way less arrogant, even if that comes with not having godlike knowledge of everything like Ozymandias does, but more importantly, Simon is much less of a loner, or at least becomes so thanks to the harem, Simon actually trusts people and shares his plans with them, while Ozy becomes completely insulated in his ambitions. Ozymandias was shaken out of his runt when confronted with the Comedian's black comedy and nihilism, while Simon was shaken out of his runt by having his hope renewed by the shard's potential and the love he was able to develop with with the women that came to support him.

The game is mostly linear regarding the type of character Simon is and what goals he will pursue, I can't say you can expect the game to change much in that sense, but I think you may have been misunderstanding some of the game's themes, in particular regarding sex and it being "evil". If you're willing to continue playing the game, you are almost at the Ardford Summit, this section will develop the Unpeople a bit more, the church's soldiers who had their lust seared away and so became immune to sexual magic, I think you might enjoy the themes explored in this part.

yes the dev had found an artist craxy enough to pickup a proget of this size. once all the scene in the first chapter will be done (we are close, but not yet) will be release a version with the imgs included. after that... i think the major plot scene will come first (one release for chapter) and the other more down the line.

Somewhat safe.
There are parts of the game where cheating literally works against you, specifically in regards to certain behind-the-scenes mechanics.

How do you invest in Premium Steel in chapter 1? First time through I did it at a later time. Decided to check the wiki this playthrough and it says investing in it during chapter 1 gives a bonus later on.

When I go to invest he just says they're looking for a investor of a different profile.

you need megail for it. after save her from the manor talk with the premium steel owner.

I had a stupidity leak . I read the guide and somehow during the first round of investments has become in the first chapter in my head.

you can invest in any option (barring megail's gift) after the start of chapter 2 (chapter 2 start just after the big meeting developing the doomed king plan), in this case you cannot gain any bonus stats from investment done after that line, but because you don't gain any substantial pron (only 5K form the bank) at the start of chapter 2 delaying investment after the second chapter start is mostly pointless

Thanks for another interesting update. Wasn't sure of all my decisions at the Cathedral but decided to seize the mine. I had my largest revenue cycle this update, which was roughly 2.6 million (without cheating). Not sure how some are claiming 5+ million per cycle without cheating.

Loads of sex scenes.
As you'd see from posts above, currently no pictures as the art is only a recent addition to the project, with an artist who's got a mountain of scenes to illustrate.

I don't think anyone's actually earning $5 million in profit, but is rather, for example, making something like $3 million and leaving $2 million uninvested from the previous round, thus having $5 million on hand to open the dungeon.

You can absolutely have ~5m in profits without cheating, but it does require a bit of minmaxing.

Is this game's sex scenes still text based or did Sierra manage to find an artist that he could afford? He did say he was looking but I haven't heard about it in a while.
