Trying to play this game again but the Dev sure made it difficult; the MC is such an absolute unmitigated coward in the apartment I'm not sure I can stomach playing him. First thought when his family is in danger, regardless of their relationship, is running away.

Dev says that they can't be a hero right away but this isn't about being a hero, its about not being a complete piece of shit.
He was basically a teenager, fresh out of high school, living with a family whom he was pretty sure didn't care much for him, as far as he could tell. Out of nowhere, unknown, ARMED assailants break into his home, he hears gunfire, sees blood under his door, and you expect him to do what exactly? An effin Navy Seal would have been caught by surprise in that scenario. I get what you're saying, as I hate a beta protagonist as much as the next degenerate that loves erotic novels, but I have to suggest that you may be reading a bit too much into this scene, being as early into the game as it is. I also thought is was cowardly, as I believe it was intended to seem that way, but having recently finished this game, I can assure you it does not set the tone for the remainder of the story. Not trying to tell you how or what to think, just offering a different perspective. Cheers!

There are details of what went down that night you won't learn until later on...

I get where he is coming from. When you play these kinds of games, you want everyone to be the hero right away, or you want to save mom or his sister. The problem is, they really wouldn't care about saving him if the role was reversed. I tried to explain that with the dialog, but sometimes that is overlooked when people see Britney and just want to save her to try to have sex with her.

Also, for chapter one, which was released 3 years ago, it was not my best work. My animations (if you want to even call them that) were garbage, the lighting sucked a lot, and I had no clue what I was doing. I was making something for myself and decided to share it with others. Do I expect praise for what I did? No. Did I make a ton of mistakes? Yes.

I completely understand that my games and stories are not for everyone. I made something to challenge myself, and to tell what I think is an interesting story.

I find it boring actually when you have an MC from the start with broken bullshit powers or whatever right off the bat. Doesn't leave a lot of room for building up the character.

As for the rest, it's still better than getting into an endless loop of reworks just because you know 5+ chapters in that now you can make nicer renders. Then 10 chapters in again because now you can do animations or something better. I've seen many projects bleed out because of that.

I don't think this is necessarily true. A character can be capable but use his abilities in the wrong ways. He could lie to himself, thinking he's the best at something, only to be proven wrong and kicked off his throne.
There are many stories you can tell with a capable or powerful character.

As for The List, I think it's entirely normal for the MC to run, though I also remember playing through the other options and dying. But if memory serves, he heard gunshots and saw blood, so yeah... Not a great time to play the hero.

I fully agree with this. The new games being in their own folder also creates a new starting point, which is a good choice. They're different games, so there's less motivation to rework the previous game.

anyone not running away or otherwise securing themself when a surprising situation unfolds with an unknown number of attackers, unknown gun types, -numbers and unknown intentions leveled at the household is just one thing: casualty for CSI to scrape into a bag and put into the meatlocker with the stainless steel drawers unless they have some super gene or other - and full mastery over it.

in that situation he's just a kid from a broken home.

While I agree with you in general here there are games where the MC starts of powerful as all hell that are very good (one of my top 5 VN's of all time comes to mind, TR:S 1&2 :) )

Just a friendly reminder for those donors out there, take time to vote for the Christmas contest here. It doesn't need to be for me unless you want to, but voting for some of us smaller devs is a big deal to us.

Wow this is real Good Game Thanks..... But if you dont use the KOGO mod the texts is to white and blends in to much to see it... Plus I DL the Gallery Mod, which is great... But you cant have both Mod...Is There a way to blend these to Mod.. Im no programmer.
But you did make the Game and your Text is too White and blends into the background... When their is a White Background you cant see the text... That's why i DL the Kogo Mod.. But it allows you to change the name and fix's the text problem... Just wished he would have put the Gallery in is mod Too.
Thanks.... Maybe it's the Gallery Mod Texts.... Thanks For the Great Game... Looking forward to next Game... Thanks...
For anyone else like me and Radakat3 facing textbox transparency issues (white text on light background) with the Gallery Mod but without the KoGa3 / Name Changer Mod installed (because they didn't want to change the name), I found a fix for it. Open the game/screens.rpy file in Notepad / other editor, search (Ctrl + F) for style window, you should find a block like so (it was on line 133 for me):

Python:
style window:
    xalign 0.5
    xfill True
    yalign gui.textbox_yalign
    ysize gui.textbox_height

    #background Image("gui/textbox.png", xalign=0.5, yalign=1.0)
If you'd like to add a textbox background, then you can add one more line like so, with a suitable alpha value (0.50 means 50% opacity, 0.40 means 40% opacity and so on, I found 50% to be reasonable):
Python:
    background Transform(Image("gui/textbox.png", xalign=0.5, yalign=1.0), alpha=0.50)
The updated block should look like (ensure that you maintain the same indentation as the previous lines):
Python:
style window:
    xalign 0.5
    xfill True
    yalign gui.textbox_yalign
    ysize gui.textbox_height

    #background Image("gui/textbox.png", xalign=0.5, yalign=1.0)
    background Transform(Image("gui/textbox.png", xalign=0.5, yalign=1.0), alpha=0.50)
Save the file and open the game, the change should be reflected. I'm aware there would be two blocks which begin with style window, editing only the first one was sufficient for me.

Okay found the cause for the "Grid not completely full" errors after checking the haremtracker/statdisplay.rpy file, it pops up if we try to open the Harem Tracker before we've met all the characters. The file contains code for how to render things if we've already unlocked the character, but nothing for when the character hasn't been met / unlocked yet.

I've fixed it for myself, I'll be attaching the file (game version: v0.13) here, also attaching a screenshot of how it looks. If anyone else wants to try this out, you can download the attached file and replace the game/haremtracker/statdisplay.rpy file, take a backup of the existing file if you'd like.

Uncle Loco OfficiallyGames Feel free to check this out, tweak it to your liking and include it in the game if you'd want.

I'll check it out but I thought this was working correctly already.
I believe it (the existing code for the Harem Tracker) should work correctly once we've met all characters. However, if someone clicks on the tracker towards the beginning of the game, in say, Chapter 1, then we see the error. I started playing the game recently and faced the error when trying to open the tracker.

By the way, I noticed one more bug since my previous post and updated the script, please check the updated one. (You can also check the diff with the existing file in v0.13, you'll be able to find the changes I've made.)
