B) Ki-sikil-lil-la-ke is from the epic of Gilgamesh. Translated as Lilith in English. The world of 'The Lost Chapters' is very much inspired by pre-semitic Indo- European cosmology. Danu is name after the Irish deity of the same name. In my story she is blessed with the power of Airmeith/ Airmid, the goddess of healing. As per the myths both them are of the Tuatha Dé Danann.

Funny you say that. As I said, this game will respect your choices, especially the obvious ones like that.

I understand, and thank you for replying. Personally I very much enjoy your game, I've been here for a few years now, lol. I continue to look forward to your updates. Now as far as the update is concerned, I did enjoy figuring out basically Chloe's identity even if we had clues before, although still not sure why, or how unless Selene did it too, but given she wasn't in the first timeline. I'm guessing Lilith is most likely the culprit on the reset so far, and possibly Kyra coming to the past if it wasn't an accident as a result instead. (Not a spoiler for others, but a theory).

Yes, Eve is the reincarnation of Mara, but she's basically her going by that she still has glimpses of memories, but it seems at least her powers and memories are suppressed for now. I don't know if she's still immortal, or if that's tied into being "Mara", since we would need conformation from Lilith herself to know if Mara's immortality is restored, or not with her reincarnation. Selene at least believes that if Eve awakens as Mara again that her power would be restored at least.

Another thing to add is that it seems Eve isn't just a human with Mara's memories, or soul, but possibly whatever Mara originally was, going by the fact people don't see Eve as human on either side.

Returning to the game after almost a year away:

Am I the only one who thinks that some of the Lains should disappear from the face of the earth? I like the character Ashley, she's a brat who believes she actually has some power and is a master manipulator, even though she's just a pawn on the Lains' board. They seem to follow a self-fulfilling prophecy, the more they fixate and act against it, the worse the situation gets and they don't realize it!

Well, I've heard rumors that there will be multiple endings in this game, so it's possible that there's a route where, to draw an analogy with another Sim game Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, siding with the Lains is similar to siding with the Kuei-jin.

Everyone has their preferences, and that is how it should be.

I understand that people don't like this content in games, especially when the MC is involved, but in some situations I think it's a necessary tool to demonstrate the problems and/or traumas of a certain character. Removing this requires a more explicit text explaining how the situation got to where it did.

If I'm not mistaken, the simple insinuation that one of the characters, Selena, went through this at the hands of the Lains family, made it clear to me that they are not virtuous or the good guys who fight to protect humanity, but rather a somewhat intolerant group that worsened an already existing conflict.

There's ony one thing that PISSES ME OFF with this game: It doesn't have a wiki, a journal, a diary, anything that helps us track down WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!!!!! This is more confusing than DARK! Everytime that i come back here, i have to replay bcs i've already forgot part of this godamn lore.
I love games with a good story and writting, and i've seen so many games far simplier than this one, that even when not needed, had features such as this. And then i come to this game and have to fry my brains trying to remember a billion of names, places, objects. Fucking hell...

Been following this game for quite a while (thinking "The Lost Chapters" was a side-story to their main game, which I couldn't find - especially since it starts so "in media res" that it feels like lost chapters to a completely different book), but finally started playing it recently.
That said, I'm pretty well into it (although maybe still years behind) and really enjoying the content.

Two (2) questions, the second much more depraved than the first:

Pressing "S" goes to the Save instead of taking a screenshot.
- How can I/players take a screenshot?
The whole system of forcing the quickmenu to display if you want to see the dialogue, then making the player go to "menu" in the quickmenu before they can get to the Load / Save / Preferences is just annoying.
Even though I have it set to skip only "read text" using either ctrl or the mouse scroll wheel skips all text anyway.
- You can even "RollForward" past choices, although that at least causes an error:
Many MANY more minor issues I'm not even addressing here (partially because of the effort to do screenshots)
- (a few spelling/grammar typos)
- Once scene goes from Selene in the morning to "Meanwhile" with an Eve/Chloe scene the night before.
- Another scene goes from a flashback (dream?) to "Sometime earlier" in the flashback(dream?)
- The chronology of this game is "wibbly wobbly, timey wimey stuff" which doesn't seem as much intentionally confusing as just the order that things occurred to the author.
  - That's not terrible.
    This is how Robert E. Howard wrote the "Kull of Atlantis" and "Conan the Barbarian" stories, although he did recognize that the "Kull" timeline became an untidy mess and tried to do better with "Conan".
    - In particular, he framed his original stories (something lost in many of the pastiche novelizations that infused his work with other, less interesting writers) with the idea that Conan was an old man (or perhaps had become an ancient god himself) and was relating these tales to the author/reader as if they were sitting around a campfire and he was just plucking random stories from his life's adventures.

- And so much more - like misgendering female characters (with dicks) as male, etc.

The changelog for 0.6 says that side-image flicker has been removed, but in 0.62a I've been getting this all through several scenes (e.g. the one with Xislienne(sic?) and Woman inside a barrier or something, and several others before and after that). Is this a known bug?

On a related note, is there any way to get rid of the quick menu (permanently), short of hacking the code? The transparent textbox mod changes the qm to something easily removable, but doesn't work in this case, I guess because it's a non-standard qm. (I really hate textboxes and quick menus).

On the plus side, lots of cute girls and a bonkers incomprehensible plot, what's not to like?

I'm trying to figure out the universe here.
(I'll try to hide spoilers, but don't want to put this all behind a spoiler tag, so let me know if it gets out of hand.)

There are at least four universes/worlds:

"Current" time, *real* world
- Eve has a new job as a teacher, Selene is the President, etc.
Past events that happened in the *real* world
- Selene confronting the former President on live TV, etc
- Eve refers to seeing some of that on video in the *real* world
Past events that happened in a mythological past
- The whole bit about gods & goddesses, Legend of the First Queen, etc
- We see this as if it happened, but maybe it is just legends.
  - (personal head-canon these segments are just mythological teachings rather than *real* things that happened)
  - ymmv
Dreams
- Dreams sometimes overlap with the above, but are not necessarily canonical *real* events

There are at least three factions:

The Religious Nutters (yes, I'm biased)
- aka. The Lains and their ilk.
- The "church" or whatever it is.
- Even if you agree with the former President's allegation that Selene is a *demon*, the way she went about it was just wrong, and what we know about the attempted (and apparently failed) *exorcism* was somewhere between inhumane and immoral.
- We see this in particular with Ashley, who is less focused on evidence or whipping up public support for kicking *tainted* out of the school, and more focused on dirty tricks that would ruin anyone - tainted or not.
- We also hear about instances when the former President encouraged followers to hate &/or assault &/or worse people based on accusations (regardless of evidence)
The *Tainted*
- Those who are *demons*, or who have been convinced they are *demons*, or who are unaware of any of that yet have been branded *tainted* by the Lains (and are thus on their way to becoming convinced they are *demons*), etc.
- Selene, Eve, probably Chloe, etc.
The Rationalists &/or Scientists
- We see people - including Selene & Eve, at least - referring to reason, science, and basic truths.
- The Lains claim to be descendants of the Sun, while it is common knowledge that the Sun is - in the IRL for this story - identical to our own IRL Sun. That is,

- The supposed *tainted* often rely on basic scientific knowledge to dispute the

  arguments of the apparent religious nutters.
  - However, they seem to be appealing not only to reason and scientific process, but to their assumption that the majority of the population "believe in" or otherwise accept reason and science.

Which also brings up some interesting conflicts, since my own head-canon (Demons don't exist, Science works) is apparently 180 degrees from the author's likely belief that their "mythological past" is 100% canon to the story. They seem to be making a reasonable argument that science is wrong, demons exist, yet the religion that believes that is completely wrong, abusive, immoral, etc. They seem to be presenting a situation where the demons are AT LEAST as good as the *good* mythological gods & goddesses.

ETA. Which would bring me to the whole arrest of the former president and how much of the city's laws are theocratic and what is and isn't allowed for the head of the church in the performance of their duties and oh dear & fluffy god I'm going to end up into a level of politics usually reserved for Star Wars prequels and nobody wants that!!!

It's interesting. Fascinating.
Confusing. Flawed.
