Even if fans/patrons wants something doesn't mean you should necessarily abide to that. In the end every person decides for themselves. Of course you will likely lose patrons, if you don't, but still it is up to the artist, just as it is up to the patrons whether they will keep supporting. So no setting their priorities straight, unless they want to be as supporter friendly as possible.Yet every poll they did on their Patreon page showed that most of the community was interested in The Mind Society over their other projects. By an overwhelming majority. Maybe they should have gotten their priorities set straight in response to feedback or something.
Not necessarily make the game more important than the comics but at least put more focus on its production since it was clearly what most people were there for. Instead we got paltry yearly updates while the team seemingly imploded several times over.
I'm just saying that I don't think their "we're comics first guys" excuse should shield them from criticism when their community seemed to disagree and the major factor behind the game's delays seemed to be internal trouble with the team.
One thing people tend to miss, is Patreon isn't a kickstarter, you don't support the specific art, you support the artist.
Who said anything about it being an excuse anyway? The reason I brought it up was, that people should know what to expect as it had already been stated. If you are going to support a side project, you better expect it to be handled as a side project.
Of course you can criticize the game and the development, but you tried to make the case that sometimes nothing is better than something, implying this is the case here, because why else bringing it up? My point was, that it didn't really apply here, because what we got was better than nothing, even if we are left wanting more or a closure. Only those with financial "loss" could maybe be better without, but they should have known the risk in supporting a project like this.
