soooo

we are "forced" (hard word in this case but yeah...) to take one path/girlroute
can we reject them later on their route ? or not pursue them even if the route is locked ?
none of the 3 choices are my taste ~.~
linda is only a fling option right ?
seems like to me the white option(s) are side girls, the colored ones are the proper LIs. I made 3 new saves for each of them, and I'll leave the original the chaos one where you go after everyone, we'll see how that unfolds :KEK:

Prefer Lisa.
Sarah was actually not bad, but her makeup for the date ruined the previous impression. What the hell is that makeup?

By the way, the texture model for MC is Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

NGL this prologue killed me. I despise the dev. I didn't sign up to watch a fucking sob story and damn did it get me off guard...I really enjoyed Ella and the MC and was really looking forward to seeing their relationship grow and what it was going to be like in school and that all but lasted a whole 5 minutes before she was dead already damn.

not gonna lie as much as I love this game I also lowkey can't wait for it to finish and hope you do a prequel, as I really loved how the wife looked in the past before they had a kid.

Plus you got some really good dev speed so far

Side : if this ever comes to steam it's a day 1 buy for me
100% want a PREQUEL. shit had me excited to finally play a good ass VN. (with the Ella story)
Not saying that this isnt a good VN but a Prequel telling the story before the time jump to having a baby would be epic.

Haven't had a knot in my throat and got teary eyed in a while you asshole.

Having said that, all the other LI don't really do it for me after Ella and now I wonder... Is the sister going to be an LI?. Does anyone know?
I feel the same. Nothing really doing it for me after Ella. I just keep wishing she was still alive.

My general thoughts:

The strength of the characters is what keeps me interested. There are no real 'filler' characters. There's a depth to all the personalities we've been introduced to, which makes me want to play all the paths. I'm sure a manwhore path with have interesting problems, but a monk path will as well. It's those details that really help this hit home for me - even if I'm not interested in a particular LI, I want to see what happens on their path, because their characters are so convincing to me, as well as each of them reflecting a different part of the extended trauma around Ella. I'm still trying to work out how Hailey fits in with that, I guess that'll be more apparent in the next chapter. My pet theory is her dad might be the disgraced orphanage caretaker. Fanciful maybe? But I'm curious anyway.

THe other thing I love is the coffee cup. Not just because I drink so much coffee, but because there's those moments of the story where words are not needed, and the coffe cup is a great symbol for all those moments. A big strength of the stroy is the levels of inference, that we're required to make the connections from what we've seen, that the different paths are actually quite entwined, everyone is connected by low degrees of separation.

Regarding the LI's, Hailey's mixture of naivety and drive is adorable. I'm most interested in finding out what degree of separatiion her trauma has from Ella's as I mentioned. Sarah's already a comfortable fit, she just manages to sneak in for the hug, like it's the most natural thing in the world, and bam! it's on. I'm most interested in seeing what happens when the MC and she realise how they're connected by the hospital. Lisa's path I think will be very interesting, because her mother has interests that affect Hailey's work on the project, and there's hints she knows who the MC's father is, which we're seeing a decent amount of foreshadowing about. Lisa in some ways was the least interesting to me initially, but this chapter really warmed me up to her. In some ways, she's a lot like the MC, and as she's a similar age, I suspect their interactions will be quite different to Hailey's infatuation, with her letting her guard down more and more.

And the end scene of the chapter, well. :coffee::whistle:

For me, the sticking point is... the MC is independently wealthy, so it's interesting to see how the various LIs will react to this wealth.

Hailey - seems to have daddy issues and her character is quite immature. How much this is all down to past trauma remains to be seen. I get the impression she'll become quite possessive. At this stage, I'm not sure if she's attracted to the MCs wealth or his status within the company - i.e. he's a conduit to enable her to get ahead both professionally and socially. I haven't really played the route where the MC is dismissive, perhaps controlling of Hailey. I'm not sure I want to because I'm uncomfortable with an MC victimizing and manipulating an abuse survivor.

Sarah - boy. she's a goer. I guess she indicated that when she nonchalantly went topless in front of the MC - someone she barely knew - at the lake. Aside from that, I am not sure how she'll react to the MC's wealth. It just seems like she's jumped the MC without really getting to know him. Of course, the big moment will be when Hailey and the MC FINALLY discover their shared trauma around the death of Maddie...

Lisa - she seems the safest bet, since she was born into wealth. There's just this sadness to her. I get the impression she dearly wants a child, but it's not yet clear why she doesn't have one.

Maddie [sister] - given the MC's wealth, I'm vaguely suspicious that she turns up at the MC's luxurious cottage eight years after her sister's death. Anyway, at the very least, I hope the MC immediately drags her to the hospital for a CAD test the moment he meets her. From memory, Ella said she was orphaned at the age of 4, so I assume Maddie can't more more than 3-4 years younger than Ella, making her in her mid- to late-20s.

BobtheDuck, the only sticking point about your theory with Hailey's dad is that Hailey and her friend grew up rurally, on farms.

I just started playing this game, but man the introduction between MC and Ella with the skateboard is rough to watch. I get it there needs to be something to get them meet each other, but the accident is clearly 100% Ella's fault and it's really weird to see how the scene turned out the opposite with her blaming MC and MC being scared as if he was the one at fault.

I sure hope the dialogue would get better from there.

Yeah, I guess given on the time frame it wouldn't make sense.

But the MC's age isn't necessarily that young. MC is in the same year as Ella when they meet right? Then there's college, where she helps with his theses (and Ben's). THere's the shared dorm vibe with Ben and Vicky being awkward. So, at least three years after the skatepark. Then building the company. The non canon sex scene in the gallery shows that they were focused on bing successful earlier. Also, remember that the mansion we see at the end of Ch2 - Ella lived there. That's where the MC sees memories of her, and the groundskeeper remembers Ella, as is obvious from the end of the scene. So timeline is that after the skatepark, the MC went to college and built a business empire from scratch with Ben, enough to own a mansion before Ella and he conceived (no memories of her in the mansion if she was already gone by then).

So it's far more likely that the MC and Ella were in their late 20s, and the MC is now in his mid thirties. I should remind myself of the script, because the coffee hasn't sunk in. I think there might be a reference to Lisa's age, and she jokes that in a different life, they'd have played in the same sandbox. This'll mean that Madelyn is also in her mid 30's.

So if my theory has any weight - Ella's experience at the orphanage is a plot point, she leaves at 18 anyway, the guy gets dismissed, the MC is 36 - the care taker could leave and settle rural with a 3 year old, Hailey would be the right age, roughly.

Oh and Ben and Vicky have multiple children - ages aren't mentioned, but given the anecdotes about Ben and Vicky's sex life through college, and the MC's bad name of Olga being a joke - Ben and Vicky's kids are older - more to kind of get an idea of the MC's age. I really should remind myself of the details.

The MC does a 180, immediately turns around to had home to get changed, so basically does a u-turn infront of Ella.
