Rich dude buying his harem with shit load of money is specific type of power fantasy. As genre it has superficial relationship building. The Missing Part is stratosphere higher character quality-wise. It is this difference in quality why some players worry about MC's money. Imaginary or not, characters' behavior regarding money is inextricably linked to character building. "Buying his harem" sure buddy. Providing his assistant and her friend/roommate with a nice place to stay, all while improving the company's property portfolio, is hardly buying them or their affections.
From what is said this is not even going to affect the MC and his finances, while helping someone he's grown to care about alot.
Personally I like it when an MC is generous with his resources. I don't want to play as Scrooge McDuck.

to be fair never once worried about the MC's money. I just didn't like said behavior shown from Emily. If it was about the money would of been a bigger issue for me for the MC. I just would want to be a cheap ass and get them a worst house if I had the option and fire the guy that Emily talked to because of the behavior Emily has shown. As I don't think behavior / manipulation like that deservers to be rewarded.

It is not about her: MC is in good standing with his peers and with her peers and if you choose to go and sign up for voluntary work, MC is in a space and time in his life where he feels indebted to himself and to his family to give more of him and of his good fortune to others, as his apparent lullaby brain kept him unstartled to the looming threat that claimed all his family and threw him into chaos.
Example: Jason Momoa gave free tickets to a whole school of little kids: not asking about troublemakers or bullies or troubled kids, he gave all of them the joy of watching the premiere of Aquaman: finally a native Hawaiian being the king of the seas.
If money buys you peace of mind and you keep your standing and your sanity, so be it. MC is reclaiming his dignity by giving back.

And not one of the kids manipulated him into giving him the tickets. He did it out of his own heart.
This is not about MC, it's about Emily. If she had asked/discussed it up front, he (I) would have had no problem trying to get something that she wanted.
Instead she used deceit and trickery and manipulation.

Completely different to me. One feels like a donation to do some good and nice and the other feels like something nice was offered but took advantage of the situation for her own selfish desires.

On a serious note, what made Emily terrible was her using Hailey thinking that was the only way to strongarm the player into agreeing into buying the home. At least Charlotte's behavior is justified given she's protecting her daughter, Emily kinda just defaulted to manipulation for something she was guaranteed to get anyways had she just asked up front.
On a different note: it's quite impressive how JPK wrote Emily well enough to cause some serious debate on her actions. Whether he intended for her to become despised is an entirely different matter, but that kind of thing happens in novels (the audience interpreting differently from the author).

It doesn't look like MC has a better use for his money right now. It seems like he doesn't have any more heirs, and the redhead is too sus. Why not spend a little more to pamper the girls he likes. Besides, Emily's skills could come in handy, the sneaky minx will gather information on competitors (or partners like Charlotte) with ease.
MC is buying a harem? Don't make me laugh, he rather has a headache from this bunch of hotties thirsting for his attention. They are ready to jump out of their panties at his first call.

I am using "Buying harem" as label for specific type of games you can find here at zone. I was pointing out difference between said genre and The Missing Part. So I obviously didn't use this label for this game.
But who cares about the debate when you can put words in someone else's mouth even if they never actually said them, right Justaphase?

I think you got him wrong, i just read that he stated that this game has a way higher quality than nonsensical harem games and players therefore feel that it breaks immersion if the mc goes around spoiling these girl despite the perception of her behaving manipulative"Putting words in your mouth" when you did actually say them.
i personally dont give a fuck, emily is awesome and fun, we may have to give her a spanking for being manipulative tho

Oh a spanking is definitely needed with Emily. You can see that she is the kind of person who will push boundaries and see what she can get away with. Though I suspect she may enjoy the spanking a bit too much.
Emily get's alot of leeway with me because it's quite clear how much Hailey needs her. Hailey and making her as happy as possible is my first priority.
