Hello everyone,

Weekend ahead and that means time for the new Dev Log.
Decent progress this week... in fact it was one of the most productive weeks ever.
The plan for this week was to get most of the scene done I planned on working on. I finished it completely even though it got a bit bigger than I expected (as usual...) but I'm pretty happy with the result.

That also means I can move on to the next big scene of this Chapter. I assume that it will take a while to get it done but when it is done... we're one big step closer to release :p
It will probably keep me busy for the next 3 or more weeks so expect the preview images to be somewhat the same (like with Kaija).

I'll also create a new test build once the render queue finishes and run some tests through the latest scenes.

The numbers for this week:
160 new static renders for a total of 1597
1 new animation for a total of 43
415 new lines in the script file for a total of 4722

Have a nice weekend, guys.

Cheers,
Ceo

Ooooh, everyone loves a productive week! Ceolag has brough his overall average up to approximately 69 static renders, 1.9 animations, and 205 lines per week since work on Chapter 6 began. Here are the charts:

Definitely a productive week: it's the second highest static render rate one record! From the previews it looks like those renders are primarily to tie up loose ends with Nightingale, which is good. The match seems to be taking place outside Neverwhere, which is potentially interesting, too. I'm looking forward to this scene (though I'll certainly laugh out loud if the MC winds up losing Durendal after all his assurances to Nimue in Chapter 5).

Next up is presumably another big scene with one of the LIs, which should be fun. The real question is whether we'll get a scene with the other LI after that, or if she'll have to wait for Chapter 7, but it will be a while before we find out.

Fionna ... is a possibility but it depends largely on what exactly she's hiding and whether I can live with it.
I'm probably not the only one who thinks that Fiona is in fact an elf or at least a half-elf. A lot of hints and clues throughout the story so far, starting from the first bump and the renders in the gallery. If she's an elf then she is hiding her ears somehow, possibly a spell or something.

Valkyries are real. We're told to talk to the Norse gods about the sword we found... Fiona could be ANYTHING.

Sure, but there are elf-specific hints if you pay attention.

Nah I always thought she is related to the elf's in one way or another to be honest

At least related, yes. From the moment she bumped into the MC the first time. It's pretty much the main thing that makes her interesting so far.

Tuatha Dé Danann....

Discussed quite extensively in the Lore and Legends thread.
Come on, I just played it the first time ever and just finished. This was my first impression about Fiona and the elves. Never seen or read any discussions.

Almost definitely not. Probably related to The Fianna (Fennian cycle) or the Red Branch Knights (Ulster cycle). Elves don't have much of a tradition in Ireland - fairies yes, leprechauns, banshee ... but not so much elves. Yes her abilities seem incredible but if you read the stories of the Fianna or Fionn mac Cumhaill (Finn McCool in English) her abilities wouldn't be out of place at all.

Yes, I don't know how I missed this incredible story so far. But I'm glad I did, because now it took me the whole weekend to get through it. Should have done a bunch of other things, but just couldn't tear myself away from this story. :HideThePain:
And I still didn't get enough of it by the end... So sad about Finnabair

And thanks for the lore thread, Mav!
I mean, I have some clue how extensive and complicated the whole Gaelic mythology is and I recognized quite a few names and characters, but not at this level of detail. It's very interesting.

I just thought that Fiona might be lying about her Irish roots as a cover story, but Tuatha Dé Danann fits her perfectly, which means she didn't really lie about anything.

I love how all the legends and myths are mixed into this story. Nothing from Kalevala yet, but we already have a Finnish girl name, so I wouldn't be surprised if Väinämöinen popped up somewhere, playing his kantele or Ilmarinen forged a sword or axe for someone.

tbh I still need to look at the lore thread but since I have zero knowledge about any of it I haven't made the effort to look at it yet. The only thing I even know / recognize is King Arthur and lady of the Lake but that is from tv / movies lol.

Awesome!

To be fair, we are still summising about Fiona...but it fits, especially the other sword also. Are we right? I guess we'll find out eventually hehe. Ceo done an excellent job of weaving and blending different stuff together, truly awesome job.

I'll be keeping the L&L thread up to date btw as new stuff is revealed or added etc as well as the pdf walkthrough (as long as Ceo would like me to, he is, or was considering the idea of doing one in-game so we shall see).

BTW, there's a separate Wiki article about , linked to both Ailill's and Medb's articles.
Still a sore spot. In every game I have MY Li - might not be the only one I'm with in all cases, but it's the one I'll end up with - whose side I'll be on in all things and in this game that was Finn - which makes things difficult and doesn't bode well for future relations with the Templars.
