Ok so i downloaded the game and started it up around 06.04 CET (Norway) give or take a few minutes I played the update fully then came back and saw the virus announcement. I've uninstalled the game and done a quickscan with the windows anti virus but it says everything is ok. Is there anything else i should do/check? Thankfull for any and all help as im absolutely horrible when it comes to stuff like this.

Uhhh so. Well there is sadly no guarantee for anything. You after you have done the scan you could check the "%appdata%/RenPy/tokens" folder and check for "AutoIt3.exe" & "script.a3x" files, but even if they are not there doesn't meant they weren't as they can (and previous virus version did) infect system.dll(s). The only really safe measures would be, re-installing Windows and changing all of the PWs.

I think another advice is to run “questionable” software inside a virtual machine. Learn how to setup it with virtualbox and play VNs only inside it

It won't show up until you try and run it. I believe if you dl before the new files went up, you will get infected when you run it. (unless your virus protection stops it of course).

It wasn't unfortunately, I saw the comment almost immediately and checked our version and it had the same code so I reached out to staff here and deleted it. I've reworked our code too to see if we can get better at detecting it. Ahhhh
If you're on MAC/Linux btw it doesn't affect you, it solely targets windows so if you downloaded the torrent it'd definitely be in your best interests to do all the usual scans etc and make sure you're safe.

Well, mine is clean. I'm on Windows and Linux and it's clean. Not sure wtf is going on, but it's a lil sus. How can a file be infected and not infected? I have used BD, Defender and PandaOnline. I also tried MBAM, just a few ago. Nothing.

had already faced with such exploit and known how to find it, because it practically undetectable

The code above tells that exploit should start to work only tomorrow

You may check the source of your VN version directly to see is there a harmful code there and is it detectable by your antivirus or not

I got it before they took it down, it's now back up. But, I've purged it from my pc and am redling it. I just think it's a waste of time as I wasn't infected.

There was no actual infection in the file to be found anyway from what I am gathering....just code to allow a connection to it.

Same, I ran the game about 30 minutes ago and Kaspersky detected the script and blocked its initialization, got confused why it didn't show it yesterday, hence why I'm here.

It appears this will be a recurring problem now and then, time to play on virtual boxes...
