I think it's six. I don't know, don't work here, but i've seen 6 chapters mentioned often.

I sure hope this doesn't mess with the "no more than 1 update every two weeks" thing the mods have set-up.

It could end up preventing the game from getting to the front page of "latest updates" when there is an actual proper 6a
Thanks for your reply.

Hopefully it'll be more useful than an art degree.
Clinical Psychology. Not to knock on talk therapists but I'll be as far as one can go without having to go to medschool.

1. Would the bonus stories be canon or in the vein of 'this happened in another timeline' sort of way for the 'handful of girls who couldn't fit in the timeline in a believable way'; I also assume the extended stories of the chapter 4 and 5 girls are canon events that just didn't fit in the development schedule and thus just delayed to another chapter.
I'm gonna take this moment to explain in full.

The game will be taking place over the course of 5 years. Each chapter being a full year.

We will be adapting the X-Men Comics from The Phoenix Saga to the Onslaught Saga.

Chapter 1 exists to establish the setting

Here's the . Starting with Chapter 2, we will be adapting the comics from Phoenix Saga (1976) – X-Men #101-108 to Onslaught Saga (1996)

An exception is that the Muir Island Saga (1991) is the columniation of Chapter 1. Like Laura, this is a holdover from Ron's initial build.

Now for reasons I have to be EXTREMELY vague about. Chapter 6 won't be following any defined span of time. However, all of the stories will be 100% canon.

The extended stories exist because we will be introducing girls in Chapter 5 and them missing out on 4 chapters of character development isn't fun for their fanbases.

2. I again know this is reaching quite far in the future and also subject to change but as of right now is the set up for the sequel in chapter 6 and is the player character of the sequel the same as the one as we control in The Null Hypothesis?
Null will be the protagonist of all our X-Men games.

I'm currently in an active discussion with the writing team of how to make a Null in his late 30s not come off as weird for going after characters like Kamala since I don't think Kamala isn't even born yet in our timeline.

Thanks for your answers by the way. You're awesome from what I can tell.
You're welcome. I feel the love.

Just use the ol' patented Marvel Sliding Timeline.

Thank you so much for the detailed answers! I'm glad to hear that all the stories will be canon since there's a part of me that feels vaguely dissatisfied when a 'non-canon/what-if scenario' gets added to a game or story when it reasonably could be just added to the main game itself.

I also dislike it when a direct sequel features a different playable character from the original one. Sure, I understand the reasons why devs go that route but that doesn't mean I have to like it. Glad to hear that's not the case here; though I do wonder if there are plans for picking multiple 'origin stories' for Null's character for the sequel, making one particular path canon or simply somewhat not focusing too much on the events of the original game. By the time you get to Kamala, there would probably quite a few comic bs that can be done to do exactly that.

Final point, it is a bummer that The Null Hypothesis is the only Marvel/DC porn game of its kind at the moment... Don't get me wrong, Something Unlimited and Doomination serve a different target audience than me and that's fine; it's just there's only Rogue-like: Evolution and The Null Hypothesis for those who want to 'self-insert' their own original character into Marvel (sadly no such games for DC in active development as far as I know) so to speak and of the two only The Null Hypothesis gives me the feeling of actually being a 'game with porn' instead of 'porn with plot'. Plus I sometimes feel like way too much of an asshole in RLE.

And before I forget, thanks for your game recommendation lists as well.

I still vote time traveling Null since I think most of the hate from that was just Jean's Gay Beam.

Good Boy Scott was a treasure and you can pry him from my cold dead hands.
Those pesky X-Men just can't seem to stay away from time travel. It'd be on brand for franchise.

Or getting killed, or cloned, or having evil siblings.
To be fair, that's par for the course for most mainline comic characters be it Marvel or DC. Heck, for all the bad rap shonen manga/anime get sometimes; most of them are just another Tuesday for Marvel/DC and not half as convoluted as well.

Unsolicited hardcore nitpicking here.

I've been replaying the game. One thing that stands out a bit is that a lot of the dialogue getting closer to the girls in events consists of trite "don't overdo it" and "I'm here for you" stuff if you solely pick the "good" choices.

Which, y'know, these phrases are a real thing.. But it kind of feels like reading Wayne Family Adventures (character gets mad, character 2 follows them and asks what wrong, pep talk with im here for you, drama solved) when it's always the only good option in any stressful situation and it's done again and again for different characters.
