The original SLDR cheat injector for Rogue-like, the cheat injector I based mine off of, was because SLDR got tired of restarting the game with new game versions. With that said, while exp, stats, anything number-based, that'd be pretty easy to "port over" to a new save, items can get funky if they're story-related/story-based. Like getting an item before you're supposed to, causing sequence breaks (not saying this is what will happen with this game. But that it's a general worry with all games and giving items ahead of time.).I don't know about being able to "recover" but I can ask around to see if there's something to alleviate things.
With all that said, it might be easier to write a separate tool to port stats over, though it's writing code for a very limited and specific use case. But, seriously, when all else fails, that's what cheats are for. Even some of the earliest video game codes (like the password system in Mega Man on the NES) was to resume play on a game that couldn't technically (like, technology wise) support it.
