I understand this is an update to prevent the abandoned tag from being created and to show that they're actually doing something. Can't they just take six months to do something worthwhile and then present it? Why release an update without any real purpose?

You are, in fact, mistaken.

It was a massive overhaul for the game's code. Months of work, not a minor tweak. The entire sandbox portion of the interactions was reworked and a lot of it substantially re-written. Non-plot required interactions between Null and the girls will now rarely be the same twice as the new code draws from a massive pool of variables and applies somewhat organically. It not only adds a fresh dynamic to the game, but allows for seamless, extremely easy additional dialogue/interactions to be put in later, either by the devs or by modders.

Further, entire scenes and portions of dialogue in the game itself were added/re-written to accommodate different paths. A great deal of content was added to deepen the experience for those who chose to have a platonic relationship only with one of the LIs and assign full weight to the relationships with or without Quirks.

An entirely new aspect of the sex system was developed and implemented, so that the LIs become more experienced and learn different sexual techniques, etc over time and usage, becoming more proficient with them and entire new dialogue trees to accompany that.

A lot of optimization changes were implemented to smooth Live2D as well, allowing for smoother play, especially on Android.

New soundtracks for several scenes as well.

It's been a huge effort, especially by the coders, and will make future development and modding markedly easier. The next update (0.9) will be fairly art intensive.


That said, as someone in the thread mentioned earlier, the art requirements for the game alone are nearly 5K/month and most of the development costs are funded personally by Ron and a small handful of supporters. Ron doesn't spend much time fundraising or soliciting financial support, but he brought it to public attention recently that roughly 4500 of the Patreon followers don't contribute anything at all. If even a portion of them did, it'd make a huge impact.

If you want new chapters and new characters sooner, please do consider heading over to the game's Patreon and signing up. Even paying a buck a month will shave months off of the development timeline if enough people do it.

Y'know, despite regulars like myself who know what's going, at least via King_In_Yellow re-posting updates and previews Discord and Patreon, I'm seeing first-hand why the team Kanye shrugs to the fairweather players. It's also causing me to scream internally, but it is what it is unfortunately.

I've never really understood the point of coming to a game's thread, complaining about it for a few posts and then disappearing again. The most I've done is lurk around searching for some info and if I can't find it THEN ask a question that might be blindingly obvious to regulars.

We had people say we were milking people on Patreon for all we were worth when we first started, despite actively pushing monthly updates to get the game established. We had people say we were fleecing people and trying to scam money from everyone we could, despite every penny going into the game and the team (other than the artists, which is where all the money goes) essentially working for free for over two years. We had people say we were using AI art, despite us showing the sketches and early versions of the art, or the game hides a bitcoin miner, because it won't run on someone's Pentium 90 and and and

This isn't any different. We've tried to be as transparent as we can and we try and communicate what's happening as clearly as we can. This massive overhaul was postponed for about a year, simply because we didn't want people to have to reset. It wasn't a decision made lightly or easily, despite what people may claim. Ron and Shiny have both said in the past that it needed to be done, and explained the reasons why in detail. People are going to make assumptions and repeat claims they've seen elsewhere as fact. There's not much we can do about that.

For the record, a chapter select is in the planning, once we get to chapter 2, something we've also been vocal about. It's in the early stages, but it's coming When It's Ready. As is v1.1. We want to get this stuff out as soon as we can, but time is still, unfortunately, linear, and as long as that's the case, this is how things are.

Thank goodness we have Shiny and you who act as F95zone's connection to the rest of the dev team because I've only been active here for around 2 weeks and already I want to roll my eyes into the back of my skull with all the stupid accusations and questions that can be answered with a couple of searches' worth of effort.

I'm patiently awaiting the glorious arrival of the "Complete Consent Simulator™ Chapter 1 Experience".

Really? I didn't have access to comics growing up didn't know, but Emma looks smaller here, too. And in the previews they look bigger to me. And don't get me wrong they are lovely, but I don't know

Emma will appear in Chapter 2 but won't be romanceable until later chapters.

The Love Interests for Chapter 2 are Storm, Kitty and Dazzler.

Emma didnt have massive gazongas until she reappeared in the comics much later, she got her cheeks clapped by space birb'd Jean so hard she was thought dead.

I mean Storm has always had big tits, just not massive tits, that place is fiercely disputed between Rogue and Emma.

You probably think so because in X-men Evolution and other cartoons, they usually make Storm older so she can act more like the mom of the X-men she usually is in the comics, in Evo she was a teacher with Logan.
In the comics, Jean is slightly older than Storm, and Emma is around the same age as Jean, in the game they decided to go the X-men evolution route and make Storm older too.

Storm's always felt 'older' than the rest of the team, for some reason. She was meant to be late-teens/early-20s when she joined, but she came across as much more mature than everyone else. It just seems to be one of those weird things everyone just kinda agrees on.

We did have several arguments discussions about what age she should be in the game, and one of the big deciding factors was that we didn't have anyone over 22 in the game, and probably wouldn't for some time if we kept her age consistent with how it should be. And considering how vocal the milf-lovers have been, that was basically what tipped the scales.

Makes sense to me, she spent much of her life travelling and had her time larping as an african godess, shes mature beyond her years and in order to control her powers she must be cool and collected, then you also add that she has an agreeable personality and you end up with a calm, motherly woman.
