We're still debating over Wolverine because @Buttholder and I can't come to an agreement of whether or not he should have Viper or one of his Japanese paramours. Because surprise, there's more than one... Well it was a surprise to me.
Personally, I like Jessan Hoan (Tyger Tiger) from Wolvie's days in Madripoor. Not really sure if I'd go with Mariko.... just no Mystique x Logan storyline.

Are you guys intentionally ignoring the other screenshot of Jean and Jubilee literally grinding on each other?
I am literally the one who posted it. That scene wasn't in any way gay, it was the girls hitting the dance floor to show off. Women do stuff like that, I have been present at parties when girls would make out just for attention. Go look up old videos of Mardi Gras, lots of women do far more raunchy things just for beads and the hooting and hollering of men watching.

Women don't perceive other women as a sexual threat or even as legit romantic partners the way they do men and so do things with them in a way they would never with a man.

Ackshually, thats Amara, Jubilee had been taken out of the institute by that chapter, the bayville sirens is also the worst chapter in all of X-men evolution, the animations are the only redeeemable thing about it, i genuinely wonder what the fuck went on when they were making that episode because it doesnt even feel like the same show.

I will note that the reference includes Willow. The gayest character on TV at the time.
Not to go all "ERM ACKSHULLAY," but it's Buffy and Faith dancing in that scene. Faith was definitely straight, going off all the guys she chased/teased/fucked over the course of the show.

Bringing discussion back to the game, I'm now wondering if you guys are going to take any influence from Buffy for your characterisation of Kitty? Obviously Kitty was a fairly major influence on Buffy in the first place (thanks Whedon), plus there's that rotoscoped dance from Evolution posted upthread already. Or is your Kitty going to be a strictly 80s comics-accurate affair (i.e., slightly frumpy, uncool, goofball, dork) instead of Buffyesque action girl/valley girl?

Is it just me or after v0.7b you can't f**k one of the characters while the other two are there? at 0.8b1 they just say they're in public while in 0.7b there ain't any such issue.

Well fuck me twice then I guess.

Regardless of my forgetfulness of two scenes I haven't seen in like a decade(Longer for Buffy)... My point still stands. Pretending the X-Men don't have LGBT subtext is just willful denial. Regardless of people's views on women relation ship dynamics.

That's the tricky part. Because of the timeline change, the events of the comics are now taking place during the time period of Evo.

Though to be honest, we'll likely take elements from Evo and throw them into the characters like we did for the others.

For example. Rogue in Evolution was Goth because that was shorthand for showing someone as the outcast loner type. There's elements of that in our game but we expanded it to her liking the music and focusing on her fashion. Though like in the comics, she doesn't have that self confidence yet. People often forget that there was a solid 2 decades of Rogue not being a confident southern belle and that even after she became that she still had deep rooted insecurities.

Kitty was preppy in the comics and during the 80s the stereotype for that was a dorky girl. During the 2000s when Evo came out. The stereotype for preps was a valley girl. The writers very much plan on leaning towards the comic interpretation but there will be Evo elements. I just don't know to what extent. I know she's not gonna be like Oni's take on the character because she's basically just lifted from the show.

I think they said they were gonna go off classic Kitty more, which is evident by the fact that she has her curly hair look before they made her more WASP looking in the late 90's. Personally Evolution Kitty is my favorite version of her.

Word.
The girl power shit was so cringe. The "I don't need no man" garbage flies in the face of the message it tries to push, if a woman feels the need to lash out at a man for wanting to keep her safe it shows that she is insecure as a person, not to mention ungrateful. All it does is end up making men bitter and mistrustful until they start avoiding those women, then you get the "why can't I find a good man" bit.
If I was in position where a woman had to save my life I would be more ashamed of myself for not being strong enough, not lash out at the woman.

Im just saying, that valley girl accent was endearing.
"Hey Null, do you want to, like, play Halo and stuff?"
I don't disagree with you on that but not every preppy girl was a valley girl, especially on the East Coast, and we really do not want to be compared to Oni in "Who did valley girl Kitty better?"

Besides, as several people here have stated. This game got them into reading the comics for the first time, or again, and we want to give as good of an impression as we can.

While Rogue was obviously not Goth in the comics. Her insecurities shown in the narrative in our game were important parts of her character showcased in the comics during her early tenure with the X-Men.

Sometimes combining two seemingly opposing things turns out amazingly well. Like green tea ice cream, you wouldn't think making ice cream tea flavored would be good but it is.
Similarly, southern belle goth girl is an amazing combo, it's like Baby Metal, you wouldn't think Japanese girls in goth french maid outfits would work, but it does.
My only complaint with this version of Rouge is that she looked better with long wild hair.

It's one of those changes than make someone go, "why didn't I thing of that"?

But it was so damn cute though!
I love my Kitty from the comics, but adding a bit of Evo would make it the perfect rendition of her character.

One of the best things about TNH its how well it captures the comics though.
