tbh I never understood the incompatible saves thing. Sure, there can be a need for a different format, but why not implement a compatibility layer that converts the old saves into the new format? If you know both formats and they carry the same data this should be very simple.
Blame Ren'py, not the devs. As I was one of the people testing for the bugs on the Discord, I feel the need to point out that until this update, I didn't actually need a new save, unless I was testing for bugs.

A hit and miss as far as casting goes. And yes, a casting choice can be both. She
almost got Jean down perfectly, but that might be because nobody bothered to tell her there was source material to work with.
