1sec. animation = 30 render - did you add all the animation included ? I made a 30s animation -> 900 pictures to render.
That is a problem with DAZ-Iray-Render - the whole scene must fit in the GPU System memory. Most scenes that use more than three HD chars will not work and that too depend on the hair, clothes and other assets you use in that scene. And a scene that will render with 640x480 maybe crash when rendering at 1080p. There is for example a pencil available as an asset with a 4096 res and would you put that in the scene on top of the lectern it would crash the scene regardless of the fact that it would be not really visible. Why do you think many games have nearly empty rooms or only small areas visible.
One option to help with the problem that you want many people in a scene is to use 2d-billboards (for example

) and there are not always some available with the theme you are going with and making some by yourself is a shitload of work. I'm working on making an erotic party and/or erotic trade fair billboard for myself and it takes much time. The other option is using a mannequin character that is only loaded one time and you can use multiple instances of that mannequin without needing much additional space in the GPU VRAM. That's the way DamagedCoda used.
The 10GB VRAM the 1080 has that he used is not much with HD render and slows you down not only because of the older silicon but because of the low VRAM.
