Fallen, but never forgotten.nobody should care game is dead
The devs happened.idk what happened
Typical Alishia "milking & ghosting" scheme that, no?The devs happened.
They abandoned their first game, started this one then abandoned it.
They popped back a couple of times, dropped a small update and made some more money then abandoned it again.
Bruh, this one was abandoned before Covid even.Another good one abandoned...
LOL you don't want the renpy "code", you can easily rip that from the game download, you don't even want the IP rights to it. You want the models they've created in whatever 3d renderer they're using as the game only contains images generated by that, so you can't reproduce them from it. Might want to understand the thing you're talking about on a technical level before you offer an opinion on what the rules or laws regrading it should be.There should be a general rule that if the creator of a game abandons it any one other dev could buy it. Mandatory sale of the game code for 50 USD (or less) if a game is not finished or if it is not updated at least once every 3 months (to prevent patreon milkers), and a provision to downvote a "creator" who only does token updates not moving the story forward, so a sale can be forced.
Not being a renpy creator myself it still appear you understood the gist of what I wrote regardless. I do not need to be a painter to have a opinion on art/paintings. All I was expressing was the frustration over abandoned games and suggested how it could be fixed so those who are capable and willing could bring them in to land. Do you have a better suggestion on how to deal with this, or were you just trolling my post because I did not know the inside details on game creation?LOL you don't want the renpy "code", you can easily rip that from the game download, you don't even want the IP rights to it. I think he meant that you don't only need the plan, you also need the stones to build the edifice, and the stones are the models. Not being a renpy creator myself it still appear you understood the gist of what I wrote regardless. I don't know in what fantasy world you live in, but a game like that isn't just code. Even if a dev were to be willing to spend time to pick up the game, what's to say that their art will be of the same quality, or even simply the same style? Or that the story will go in the same direction that the original dev intended? An other dev picking the game up would simply make it into a messy patchwork of crap. Terrible idea...There should be a general rule that if the creator of a game abandons it any one other dev could buy it. But you're not just giving an opinion on art/paintings, you're giving an opinion on the process of their creation at which point there is a requisite amount of knowledge necessary to not only accurately convey your intent but to also generate a useful opinion. Not being a renpy creator myself it still appear you understood the gist of what I wrote regardless. Please get over yourself. The one and ONLY point I wanted to make was that if the creator is unwilling or unable to finnis they should hand the baton over to someone qualified to finnish it (obviously not me as I know squat about coding these games), and to be fair to them they should be paid a reasonable fee for the rights. If that is 50$ or 500$ I have no idea but it can be negotiated to reach a reasonable amount. No rights violated and no law broken, especially if publishing it here came with that rule. No reply needed. But you're not just giving an opinion on art/paintings, you're giving an opinion on the process of their creation at which point there is a requisite amount of knowledge necessary to not only accurately convey your intent but to also generate a useful opinion.
To draw a simile: You wish to finish a painting so you demand the artist tell you what paints they've used and how they mixed them, failing to realize that you would also need to be able to emulate their technique.
As for how to deal with this: The status quo; make your own 3d models and pose them, write your own renpy scripts/plugins ( or use the free ones that were likely utilized by the dev ). You've no legitimate claim on anything the dev has used to create this game, so no matter how frustrating you may find it that they won't complete it, any attempt to compel them to relinquish their ownership of any assets used in it's creation is unjust. But let's ignore morality; It's already legal for anyone to create a game that's nearly a carbon-copy of this as long as you aren't using any of the assets from it, shit they can even call it "The Crimson room" and get away with it ( likely because the dev won't bother with suing them ).

If the site rules are clear those who disagree can choose not to publish here, and not if they keep "patreon milking" players with little or no progress just to get paid. I detest those creators that produce half a game and then just string people along asking for handouts with no "product" delivered. I quit following several games just like that and stayed away from patreon because of them. I know this is a place for "pervs" but I don´t swing that way.Yes, a reply is needed.
If you're saying that it would be a decent thing to do for developers who abandon games to sell their rights to their works to someone else and pass the baton, fine, that can be debated. I wouldn't agree that it's as simple as that. I think that there are a huge number of other factors which would come into play in each individual case. But sure, we can say that it would be a nice thing for a developer to do, if they aren't going to finish the game. I agree, that would be very cool of them.
However, if you're saying that developers should be compelled or required to do this, then I completely disagree. A creator has the right to stop working on their creation, and not to hand it over to anyone else. And forcing them to pass the baton, so to speak, is as much a violation of their rights as outright stealing the work would be. It might suck for the fans of the work, but the creator does have the right to just end it.
My friend, I am not quite sure if you understand how this site works. If the site rules are clear those who disagree can choose not to publish here,
My guy, I don't think you quite grasp how this site works. It's not based on devs voluntarily donating their work to the commons. If the site rules are clear those who disagree can choose not to publish here,
