I have honestly never understood this Argument. Everyone on Patreon or SS should be old enough to handle their own finances. No dev can threaten anyone to stay a backer. If someone wants to support a dev no matter what, I could not think about a reason to "hate" that.
They claim progress is on the way, but deliver little or nothing just a empty "update" that do nothing to bring the game forward or to a conclusion, just keeping the patreons hopeful enough to not stop paying for nothing. This is abuse of the system and trust of the players. This has nothing to do with "handling your finances" this is ripping of players and I DO despise abusers and lyers. There is verry fiew who wish to just give away money to support a creator not creating. Do you understand now why we think of those "creators" as thieves taking money with out delivering "product"?
"A fool and his money are soon parted". Patreon has always marketed itself as a tip-jar, not an exchange or retailer. Advocating for people that have the capacity for, yet elect not to act on good judgment is an exercise in futility, because they DESERVE to be exploited. IF those people had acted on good judgment exploitation would be rare and regularly updated, shit even released H-games would be incentivized.
If patreon had a 1 time donation and not automatically recurring perhaps or even the option to set the amount and duration ie .50 usd for 3 months or what ever you would choose would the tip jar idea hold water. If I tip at a restaurant (not standard in my country) I do not commit to a recurring tip that takes effort to stop. Being naive is not a legitimate reason to be abused in any situation (life money or sex) so I do not agree with your premise.

False equivalencies aren't going to cut it. Patreon tells you up front that you are committing to a recurring payment scheme. Assenting to that is your own damn fault.
Witch is why I never use it, even if I wish to send a 1 time "encouragement" to a creator I do not because of the broken system.
I never said that they "threaten" any one, what they do is far more insidious. They keep players hoping (even against reason manny times) that the story/game will continue/evolve and repay their investment in time and money, but it doesn't. At best there are token "updates" that is only to keep players hoping for a worthwhile continuation and/or end but no significant new material is added. False hope is evil, I do hate evil.

Patreon is not meant to be a charity, you want to throw away your money on nothing, do it on your own not on a site for active game/video production.
Stop lying. That is not the purpose of patreon and we all know it. They don't advertise their service as that and they don't receive the majority of their "business" for that. If we were talking kickstarter, you'd have a leg to stand on.
I do NOT lie. It makes NO difference what patreon was designed for in the beginning, none what so ever. What IS the point is how some creators abuse it to with out justification, cheating players to keep paying them by ever teasing and never delivering the promised content (or only token updates). That is what I HATE wirth a passion, not the fact that patreon exists, it is only a tool used for in this case bad behaviour. If paypal or a bank was used I still would not like this behaviour. If you try to hit me I don´t care if you use a pipe or a bat it´s the hitting I oppose, obviously.
ROFL I already addressed this in the quoted post. Game development is not anywhere close to their majority income. You are attempting to deceive by coloring them as a "a site for active game/video production", omitting their majority function.
You are a willfully ignorant schill for there scammers. I did NOT say patreon is the "guilty" party they are ONLY the means to deceive the players of the games/novels by SOME of the creators. They give both patreon and f95 a bad name/reputation because what they do, not just where they do it. I do not care how or where they "get paid" or to what degree, I stated that I do not like this, if you do, that´s your problem.
Please look up the definition of terminology before you use it. There is no possible truth to claiming I am ignorant on this topic, willful or otherwise; though perhaps you could manage to twist my intent into being the benefit of said creators I'll state it bluntly: I hold the people who give them money responsible for their behavior as they incentivize it and thus my intent is malicious towards them, they must experience negative consequences for their actions; any additional results are irrelevant to me.
