Well, there are many games with female protagonists (many platformers/rpg for example), I've never seen those as gay games. I believe even more H games have female than male protagonists. You could look at it that way - you are in control of the girl, but you are not the girl, just the controller.
I always wondered why most people don't care to look at porn where the guy's face isn't scrambled or hidden? I myself prefer not to see the guy's face, imo makes it easier to imagine to be the guy, or alltogether shift to drawn or CG hentai where the guys stay anonymous, or futa.
