Because your rationale was just that I "should" play the game the way you enjoy it, instead of the way I enjoy it. I don't see how that adds to the discussion. If anything, it simply tells me that I can't contribute anything of value to the discussion unless I'm playing the game the way it's intended to be played. Do you disagree? Do you want me to continue sharing my viewpoints about what features I'd like to see in the game, if I'm not gonna be playing it the way it was intended to be played?I don't see why leaving out rationales from discussions is a better option to you.
It's fine if you don't. You're the one who put all the effort into making the game, so you get to dictate the future of its development. But I don't see how you telling me I shouldn't play the game the way I enjoy somehow makes for better ongoing discussion. Explaining your rationale for how you intended the game to be or how you personally enjoy it (and therefore what kind of features you would be motivated to keep working on) will not change what is enjoyable to me.
You said "I think if you want to play TUSC, you should do it in the way the game was intended to." Telling me how you think I should play the game is more than just explaining why part of my opinions won't affect eventual future updates. Maybe this will come off as pedantic (story of my life), but I don't think there can be any "should" without a concept of right and wrong. You probably wouldn't tell people, "you should like chocolate ice cream more than vanilla," because that is just a matter of opinion, which as you say can't be right or wrong. If you told someone they should like one flavor more than another, I think that would mean you're telling them that there is an objective standard of taste superiority which one flavor adheres to better than the other. Likewise, if you say I should play the game a certain way, I think that necessitates a right and wrong way to play the game, which you are tacitly comparing my play style with. And I never said your opinions are *wrong* – as a matter of fact an opinion by its definition can't be wrong or right, it's subjective – I just explained why part of your opinions won't affect eventual future updates.
If that's not how you meant by it, if you just meant like, "you would enjoy it more if you played it this way," then I can accept that you didn't mean it in a harsh way. But I still can't really contribute anything further to the discussion, because I won't enjoy it more that way. I can't change the way I enjoy the game any more than you can.
Again, I have absolutely no resentment toward you just wanting to make a game that suits your own play style and not trying to reach the widest possible audience. I would probably do exactly the same if I had the same programming skill as you. I completely understand not putting in time and effort to add some features that some rando on the internet expressed interest in one time. But in terms of getting feedback and starting discussions about possible further developments to the game, there just isn't much to talk about if you only want to do what suits your own personal way of enjoying the game. All possible feedback you could ever get will either align with something you were already interested in doing, or be something that comes out of a person not playing the game as it should be played.
If I preferred playing VC, why would I be here in the first place? The whole reason I put this much effort into trying to figure this game out, is because I thought it might fill a niche that VC doesn't fill. And it does kinda fill that niche, it just doesn't do it as well as I would like.It was the whole point behind me saying "if you prefer playing VC, that's fine"
