Ren'Py - Completed - The Wish [v1.0.1] [Midnite Guerilla]

This game is with it's quality above average. Quality of renders is very good, animations as well, story is quite uniqe so that's fresh. I can recommend this game... good story, good lewd scenes. 7/10. PS... beware of bushes.

This is some of the worst gameplay mechanics of any game on the site. It is a shame because the mom is obviously hot af, but this gameplay is a shittier version of Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego - yes, that bad. Even with a walkthrough it is an awful chore to play, and the writing is ridiculously bad. People complain about bad english on this site but this is much worse than that.

This is a pretty good game, albeit rushed, and with a nonsensical ending. Most of the story is pretty good, with a nice and slow build. A lot of the dialogue is pretty funny actually, though sometimes the protagonist says some cringey stuff. Each character is actually unique and I liked most of them. And when characters do have sex, it actually makes sense within the confines of the game. None of the sex scenes felt like they were only added just because this is a porn game and it has to have sex scenes. I'll explain my reasoning more under the spoiler tag below:
The graphics, as a whole, are pretty good. Nothing is outstanding, but I did find all of the girls to be attractive and gorgeous, especially Mrs. Hunter herself, as she is the star of the show. Unfortunately, there was one featured girl who didn't get any sex scenes, probably because this game was rushed to completion. Also, some of the environments looked noticeably blurry, which could've been fixed if more time was taken. However, there are a good amount of sex scenes, and most of them are decently animated. Again none of the animations were oustanding, but credit to the developer here, as they repeated multiple renders rather than just two over and over again. I think there were a few two render animations early on, but most of the animations in the game are comprised of multiple renders.

The game has a sandbox system, and it works pretty well, though there are a bunch of extraneous places that nothing ever happens in, so there was no need to include them. Your choices matter in this game for sure, as you can screw yourself from the good ending if you're not careful. I played with a walkthrough just in case (as I feel like playing all games on here with a walkthrough on the side is the most beneficial) but the game gives you clear hints on how to progress, which is great design, and you can always rollback.

But now let's talk about the actual story and ending. I'm gonna place it under the spoiler tag:
For what the game is, I did enjoy my time playing it, at least until I got to the ending. The game definitely would've been better if it wasn't so rushed.

Overall this was a good game. I Felt like some content in a few places was never realized like the basement floor of the house felt like there should of been something going on or maybe i missed something. The mature female character is probably on my top 5 favorites in a VN game.

I liked this game a lot. I thought it moved very well and even the bad ends make sense. The content and renders are excellently done, and I really like the themes presented. I can only hope for more content similar to this in any of your future work. Thank you for making this!

So, I was fairly happy with this game, but having read some other reviews, I gotta admit some criticism is fairly valid. WARNING, there will be SPOILERS. I dunno how to use the button.

In any case,
PROS:
- Hot milf, that has the benefit of actually looking like a milf.
- MC has a hypnotic cock. Now, normally I keep away from mind control-ish stuff, but I didn't find this bad. This mostly because the 'hypnotic cock' is actually a pretty common trope (woman losing themselves at the mere sight of the MC's cock), for many similar games, so its good that it's sort of explained here (gods and shit).
- Incest. Actually sort of believable here, with them being family members who have never met previously.
- I found the random Cut scenes / exposition with info on mesopotamian gods, divorce law and bouncing tits amusing. This can go either way for some.

CONS
- The game has a sandbox style of gameplay. I used a walkthrough, so I personally did not find it particularly dragging. In game, there is a decent amount of hints in the dialogue for what to do next, so even without the walkthrough it should be alright provided you are taking it slow. The problem with the sandbox style here is that there is very little benefit to the free roaming. There is no actual side or parallel plots to go through. Its kind of just used as a repeated minigame where you go around finding stuff. If the game where a full VN it may of flowed better, albeit shorter.
- The final (not including the extra ones) sex scene was anticlimatic.
- The final ending was not funny nor necessary.
- The MC communicates with this weird voice, which I presume is the user/dev. The voice can get a bit irritating at times.

The Wish = Wasted Potential.

I don't like to give a bad grade because it's hard to make a good game. But when at the end of the game, all I remember is frustration. I don't really have a choice.

In itself, the game is not bad. The visuals are good, it's animated and the characters are correct.

But the story is too rushed. The game introduces several characters that you fuck (or could) and have a relationship with but not. It feels like a big part of the game is missing.

When I finished the game, I told myself that the creator had in mind to make a game with much more possibilities, much longer but for some reason, it couldn't be done and that's too bad.

I'm not sure I'd recommend it. But as criticism is easier than practice, I would still like to thank Midnite Guerilla for his work.

In conclusion, this game is just wasted potential in the hands of someone who clearly gave up halfway into the story. I had high expectations, but dropped the game after only a few minutes at first. A few weeks later I downloaded it again, tried to give it a second chance, played until the end, and god... What an underwhelming experience. Not even bad games make me feel like I lost something after finishing them. Was it my time? My patience? A few brain cells? All I know is that I regret giving this one a second chance. Simply disappointing.

I enjoyed this until the end. It wasn't GOOD, maybe worth 3 stars, but it would have been decent.
Then the ending happened. Hated it.

Gave it a day or two to think it over, and I'm ready to say why I think it deserves 1 star.

PROS:
art is good. MILFs are not my type in these games, but there's nothing wrong with how she's depicted, and other characters are decent looking also. Not unreasonable to assume MC would find her attractive.

Story had potential. Outside of cockfairy (and later, Ishtar), it seemed to try to take itself seriously. Setting up the MC's history with his family, his entirely reasonable search for his birth parents while loving his adoptive one, his friends, the landlady's troubled marriage leaving her lonely, etc.
It would have made for a fine porn game setup while maintaining SOME kind of serious baseline.

CONS:
The gameplay. Sandbox style is rarely done well, and this is an example of what not to do. Use a walkthru, because otherwise you will go all over the place, when there is no need to. Hell, there were locations I never visited even once. They never have any content of any type.

Simply put, the ending. And because of that, the entire story up to that point.

This game feels like a nice quicky, it's not great, nothing for my top 3, but it's a tasty snack and good fun. 7/10

About the Futa/Trans tag: I found "The Wish" when I looked for "completed" games with "futa/trans" (+related) and "sandbox" tags. I like futa/trans characters that are well written and part of the story.
The artwork is pretty, the sex scenes also, the animation loops rather short, but well animated.

The story is short and to the point, almost no character development, especially for the "side" characters. You will have sex with most of them pretty quickly.

What I enjoyed very much was the MC's ongoing dialogue with his own conscience and the references (I laughed loudly at the Black Books refence, well done!).

So yes, a tasty snack, a quicky, enjoyable, but probably nothing I will replay.

The Milf was probably the only bright spot for me when playing this game. It had promise initially but each update it seem to fade away slowly to the point where it became the typical incest sandbox game. The story was meh, and the gameplay was annoying and buggy. Towards the end the Dev threw in the towel and it showed in his work.

Two things I liked that not every game has.

1. The quest log is a guide and motivator. Quest complete! triggers my happy feels.
2. Playful narration by a consciousness(?) who sometimes interjects with sass when you explore.

Progress happens by visiting rooms, talking to people and exploring clickables. Throughout a week you will further the plot.

The plot had potential but wasn't given enough attention in the end to feel climactic. It's not bad, but eh.

The characters. As your... consciousness puts it, "you aren't the worst." As for the 'landlady,' she has a big chest, stretch marks and a bush. I thought she was beautiful. I would've liked more of a build-up with her but the game has an easy-going, comic-like flow to it that doesn't take itself too serious - it's easy to cut it some slack.

The sex scenes were a disappointment. When they start they're over quickly. You mostly have to do with an animation which has no (dirty) talk whatsoever while it plays. That makes it weird and takes you out of the experience.


Overall this game was the equivalent of a friend I don't feel attracted to. Mostly I enjoyed the goofy moments.

This game had a lot of potential but, for one reason or another, the developer has pulled the plug. We have a complete game but I would not say we have a finished game. Someone else has said that this game has the feel of a cancelled TV series wrapped up in the last few episodes but with story-lines left unfinished. It certainly has that feel. Looking beyond that and, if this was the review of a part/episode 1 with other episodes to come, then this review would be a lot more positive. So, let's start with the positives: the art.

There is little to fault with the artwork. The developer reuses some scenes but this is not often. Some of the renders are a little dark and grainy, but this seems to be at the start of the game, as the game progresses so does the quality of the renders. They're well posed and generally well lit - they don't look flat and the sets are well dressed. This looks like a real world with real people and real lives. I like the attention to detail in places like the college and the house. For example, there are pictures on the wall and they reflect the storyline, the college has it's own coat of arms with a motto that translates (according to Google) to "my dog ate my work". This attention to detail is fantastic. I also like how the developer has animated the TV. For instance, the MPC often watches TV and the TV shows are animated. The choice of TV show is fun and eclectic as well. I spotted Blackadder, Lovejoy, Blade Runner, Charade, some rugby, Die Hard, Ghost Busters, Futurama, and Mrs Hunter is a fan of Truly Madly Deeply. There's also some vintage porn films that look like good ones.

The characters are attractive. Mrs Hunter is a stone cold hot MILF who looks her age and doesn't look any the worse for it. I like that there are also times when you can see her in her prime and she has aged like wine. There's another MILF in the game, who's also very hot; and the younger girls are attractive too, though there is less focus on them. There's a futa in the form of a fairy, but she's not interacted with sexually and, other than as the trigger for the story, can be easily ignored.

However, artwork aside this game is disappointing. Not because what is there is bad but because what is there is not enough. It's very short, and you need the walkthrough to complete otherwise it's just too hard. One false step and you get a game over. Perhaps that's acceptable in adventure games back in the 90s but not in what is, let's face it, no more than fodder for a fap. There's also a lot of loose ends. For instance, you can pick up a bucket that you never need. There's also characters that you either interact briefly with and then not again or interact with only to stop. The receptionist at the gym, for instance, gives you a blowjob and then nothing. There's a redhead you go on a date with, you kiss and then nothing. The librarian is unconventionally hot and there's a hint that she might warm to you and then nothing. Again, it's as if the game was cancelled and a final chapter was quickly thrown together. You can keep playing after completing your primary goal and this gives you 4 new scenes, but these are fairly anaemic, lacking in any passion and disappointing because of it.

From what I gather the developer has had a fairly hard time of it and hasn't been making any money on development for nearly a year. If this is the case then the rush to completion is understandable. However, it doesn't stop this seeming like a disappointment and a missed opportunity. This could have been a good game. It isn't.

Story: 5/10 (it's 5/5 for what there is but what there is seems like half the story)
Graphics: 9/10 (solid art and not using the usual Daz3D character assets - they all look original and unique)
Animations: 6/10 (some of the early animations are lacklustre but the later ones are decent but there's little innovation)
Sound: 4/10 (the music is good, but the sound effects need sound balanced - some are just too loud!)

The Wish starts out like a big game, with locations to explore and an inventory system and all that stuff. You buy hacking tools, so there appears to be some kind of grind element. But in the end it all falls flat. Looks like the dev had a vision to make this huge game but in the end couldn't push through.

It's an "Ok" game. You can get at least 1 maybe 2 wanks out of it. Nothing more nothing less. It's over quicker than you've started. I'd recommend using the walkthrough, or else it becomes tedious quickly.

I'd really been enjoying this game and even up to the last release had felt it was 4'ish with more untapped potential both in the original characters and some more recent ones...
... and now it is apparently complete and that's the issue.

It may be technically complete but it narratively felt like it had at least 2-3 more patches of content to go. It's like a TV show that suddenly gets it's last season cut by 3 episodes and the final one, while it has closure, feels rushed with holes and untapped scenes left on the cutting room floor.

Where does that leave it?
Maybe enough to be a mid tier game but it settled for 'decent' to 'good' when it had the possibility, and renders, to be 'great'.
It feels if not totally abandoned at least partially abandoned from what it could have been and just can't give a quitter dev more than 3 stars for that.

Play it, the walkthrough is a real help, enjoy amazing renders, have some fun, but feel bad for what it could have been if it didn't end up feeling rushed to the finish line.

Good idea, but with a lot of empty space.

Story - In the short term, basic history, but with horrible ending.
Renders - Really beautiful, one of the best, amazing milf, redhead, blondes, really good job in those.
Sound - We have music, but we have a lot of scream and orgams sounds, play with low volume.
Animations - Well, we have some, not the best that are in the porn games, but is not static images.
Amount of content - Well the game is complete and we have 7 days in game, if you made some mistakes, is "game over" go back to main menu, so save often or read the walkthrough. The game is a little short, and you don't have a lot of choices, is just "good" or "game over" and some little choices for some girls, but the end, the game leave you with almost no content with them, for example, you meet rebecca, and the only thing that you do with her is a kiss. Also, the ending is horrible.

In the end, is a medim game, there is a lot of stuff that was never used (the basement for example) a lot of girls with one scene only, you have the mall that have 1 scene with one girl (and don't show anything), the game is really empty, we have some really good renders, but is that it. Also you have an usb stick that keep multipling in your inventory, that don't break the game, but in the end, you have 22 in your inventory, also you can pick a lot of shit that don't do anything. Is a bad game? No, is not, so is great? No, is not, is just a medium game, with a basic history, a lot of empty stuff and great renders.

A good little game even if the last tier seems a bit rushed, I had enjoy a lot.

I like the point & click approach of the game design where you have to find items to progress.

I can't understand how this game is rated highly enough or maybe I'm a different person who didn't like this game. But there is a reason for that, starting with gameplay.
History:
You are a young man who moves to a city for studies and suddenly the university is interrupted because they are renovating the dormitories and the students will have to move to live in different places, as a people's home, etc. You move in with a woman, Mrs. Hunter, and live there. In your childhood you were adopted, so the story of the game will bring you some surprise. There is also a great bizarre of a fairy with round breasts and a stick that talks to you, I honestly thought it was pure idiocy, but nothing against it, it is a stupid fetish, from that point on, I started not to be interested in history and follow it.
Gameplay:
Is a point-n-click sandbox that has several places in the house. But the worst of it all is that you only have one character for you to interact with in the house, there is no other girl, or two girls, none of that.
In the game you need to perform some tasks like picking up some objects to proceed with the game, there is no way to skip the day / time, because I tried and it looks like you need to do something, fine.
Graphics & Sex Content:
The graphics are regular and the female character model (Joanna), let's say it's not that 40-year-old woman with a young woman's body, it's a natural body and the sexual content, I couldn't really appreciate it, I ended up going out because I couldn't stand playing anymore, but in the first scene I honestly didn't like it very much, but I can't say more about it.

So, why I did gave 1 star?
Do you really want to know why I gave 1 star? alright, for the simple fact that the gameplay is quite tedious. Yes, think about playing a point-n-click sandbox game where there are several places to click but with only 1 character for you to interact in the house, there are many rooms for you to click and you have to look for objects (I don't think that's bad) but something gives you the feeling that you are wasting time playing that game. Anyway, there is not much to say, if you are looking for a game that you can satisfy and find a lot of pleasure, I do not recommend this game, because the gameplay is quite boring, there are many rooms in the house with only one character to interact and it is of course there are other characters that you can interact with the game, I followed the walkthrough but I ended up giving up playing, very boring to tell the truth. So, it is one of the games that I regret having wasted my time on downloading it.

One of the best games out there! Great story. I did not expect it to turn out so good at the beginning. I am so happy I continued playing this game with each release. The pictures and animations are on point! I have not seen any grammatical error. I have not found or seen any game breaking bugs. I have not been soft locked.

This game was just in another level! Short but with one of the most real stories I have ever experienced in a porn game. The renders are awesome. The characters felt real all the time and this is so hard to archieve!
