If it only for gaming/hobby, nowadays you can just learn the basic (grammar, hiragana, katakana) and let software/app to help you with the kanji. I got as far as N3 but since it's for hobby i stopped taking further class.

To be fair, you can go a lot more crazy with the story themes and approach by not needing to come up with complex rendering and modelling that are popular with western games.

The only program that I saw that can help was the Visual Novel Reader, which by definition only helps with visual novel and kanjitomo which help recognize kanji from an image (with varying degrees of success). Yes, cause handdrawn scenes are so much less complex, than posing premade stock models.

VNR 100% works with RPGM. For MV you need to use an extra tool, though.

RPGM usually should work out of the box with VNR and most text hooker (i use ITH). Kanjitomo also a good choice for games that can't be hooked because it have auto detect for text near mouse cursor. I usually map a mouse control to my right analog stick using joy2key. You can also use google translate on your phone to read some kanji. Usually it can detect better than kanjitomo. A lot of kanji up to N3 is easy enough to remember so personally i recommend to learn them. It can reduce the hassle of using software/app by a lot.

Personally i prefer using kanjitomo/googltrans because it's too much of a hassle.

the main problem with western games is the waaaay too long development
7 years for one game isn't even the worst
in the meantime p.d creation releases 3 games in less than 3 years

1) Scammers.

2)People who were forced to change game because their own supporters threatened them for genre they didnt liked by western standards (Such as Loli/shota, Incest)

3) People who made good games by going only into genres western community see as "acceptable".

Its kinda sad our own community is whats mainly limiting new things H-games can do. But i guess its kinda hard to reason with people who thinks animated characters are same as real people and have same rights as real people.

WOW is that really how it is? Going as far as threatening just because it contains something they don't like? I really find it ironic that Japan has a law that put censor-mosaic on their own porn and can still be pretty liberal about their themes while the West got no graphical censor on the genital and yet are really narrow-minded when it comes to 'FICTIONAL' characters.

I just checked the folder and turns out they use a very primitive way to do the animation in game (similar to flip comic). The opening alone take 500mb while enemies' battler take a whooping 3gb.
