What am I most sick of?

The insane tit and ass proportions need to stop.
I think the point of making GAMES and any fictational product is to achieve things you can't IRL. This is I suppose especially true when it comes to porn.

I mean if you're gonna have a normal porn game with normal stuff you might as well watch porn. Can't get any more normal than that.

*Nobody ever rejecting MC for real. I know gaming a wish-fulfulling fantasy for many players, and kids have a low tolerance for frustration nowadays, but the "nobody is out of your reach if you try hard enough, dudebro" idea is absurd and boring. There's no risk, no thrill of the hunt, because every prey is as good as caught the very moment MC lies his eyes on them.

*Predestination and/or magical/pseudoscience shenanigans in yaoi games. You met a guy and the whole universe tells you to bond with him forever within minutes/days. WIH would anybody want that? Sure, you can sleep with that man the very same evening you meet him, but the equivalent to a wedding is way out of the table. I don't want to sound sexist, but is it a female thing? I'm asking since yaoi is less aimed to homosexual males than it's to women. I, for one, would be terrified in that scenario and violently resist such a fate.

*Harems. 99'9999% of the MCs lack the neccesary charisma to build one. Nothing justifies all those women (there are no gay harems, so...) falling for that doormat and peacefully enduring sharing him, especially if they don't come from a tradictional poly culture. Some drama would make it slightly interesting, but most players don't want to choose or lose one of their precious pokemon-women at the hands of another. Lame.

"Incest is disguise". Always using "landlady, friend, roomate" instead of mom & sis despite the game clearly show you that characters are related.
I understand it because of the issue of certain platforms to put it on having issues with incest, also a lot of the games with it have the option to alter it by either typing in role you want or patches.

90% of 3d games artstyle.
I don't understand why there isn't some more variability in how the 3d models look. Is there some law stating how does the face need to look and how overly huge the tits need to be? At this point if you swapped characters between these games, nobody would even notice. I suppose this goes for hentai games too...

Mediocre sex scenes in "Adult" advertised games.
So you play this "sex" game for two hours, because there is so much gameplay, and you finally get to a sex scene - there are 2 camera angles that you can't change, from both of which you see jack shit, because one is lit badly, and the other is pointed at characters back, to hide the developers inability to model a vagina. And then you press ESC to end the animation.
This isn't a game, this is a .gif viewer, with shitty gifs, for which you need to grind to boot.

Highschool/College setting - VN market is stupidly congested with highschool/college VNs its ridiculous. Consequently, 99% of the time, its the same plot, same type of love interests, same fantasies etc. Devs need to stop dwelling on HS/College setting. Life is not about 16-21 yrs old, more exciting things and more possibilities happen in late late 20s to late 30s.

Harem/Polygamy - Not against it, i like it but almost all VNs do not bother to justify that arrangement. No way in hell women will magically accept polygamy. MC being an Alpha, loaded with cash and extremely good looking etc are poor excuses. It needs to be grounded.

Openworld/Sandbox - I'll be frank, if i wanted to play a sandbox, rpg game, i'd find one. This "additional" mechanic in a VN only prolongs the suffering and takes away from good story telling. Besides almost always these mechanics are poorly implemented.

Weak men.

You know the drill.
You raped a woman in front of her husband.
Your feeling great.

Meanwhile i am asking.
Why isnt that guy stabbing the mc with a kitchen knife?
Why isnt the father of the girl i rape hunting me?

I hate how weak men just let you have your way with the woman they desire to protect.

I shoud fear the wrath of my fellow men.
I shoud seek to ensure the rape can not be brough back to me.

There is no fun if there is no risk.

It is a female thing which is a soulmate trope, with a/b/o dynamics(omegaverse) and hanahaki disease.

First of all, gigantic or super-large breast and ass, especially the wide ass of a 200 kg woman in a magically small body.
I just can't understand how people can find that attractive?

If it's some bondage and and the women area treated as cows and are made to have gigantic breasts, that tend to be a quick turn of as example. Another turnoff is when in this scenario, that the women becomes a complete dumb idiots and that's a part of the story plot and other men just stick their dicks in without any story or proper character building.

Sure, if you are at 200 kg yourself, then your choices might be limited in reality, but not when it comes to porn.
It feels like a nerd thing, or the cool thing to talk about. Same goes for that super-large dick which makes women massively expand. It's like a women thing, that women joke around with, but again, porn is different.
What people talk about is rarely their own interest, they tend to just discuss the largest sizes, due to being scared of discussing what they prefer, which is understandable, but it's also good to understand this when making a game.
A large dick or proportions isn't bad, but there's limits.

These so called 3D/"real-life" images, they in 90% of the time, turns me off, due to often being life-less and stale and very limited in amounts.

Some gets it to an acceptable stage, but those are very few.
When it comes to 2D, it could become too much of a cartoon, for it to be attractive at all.
Sometimes this work out with a good story, but often, it isn't attractive enough.
It makes one think that someone made a game for fun, instead of attractive as porn.

HTML games, that want me to open the site in my main browser, not the one used for porn, which I often always forgot select.

Vanilla sex, a hundred times over in a game.
Blow- and handjobs are in general just a turnoff, but some can pull this off (handjob on a woman is different, especially when it comes to molesting, that can often be a bit repeating before it gets dull, as long that story and and stages/molesting levels changes (could work for a femdom game to, but it's in general harder to pull off)).

It tend to work in some stages with male or female domination, but rarely in a vanilla story and many games reuse these scenes much to define it as a lot of scenes.
You really don't want to see these scenes very often.

Some like body/vagina hair, which I really don't.

Games where you have to hit many keyboard keys to get certain attack moves, when you're to masturbate.

Games with few save spot or none at all, where you have to restart or keep several game folders for different paths/saves

Harems is something I like/accept when the story is good, but they tend to be very bland in sex, similar (same with story) and can become boring.
A lot of games with development, long one, often suffer by this, likely due to the pressure to deliver results for sponsorship.

Eyes rolling backwards, often done with very large dicks being inserted. Instead of closing eyes and panting, they tend to turn me right away, ruining the scene.

Constant panting/moaning in very loud levels, compared to the talk during sex, you kind of needs that on a specific volume regulator or to turn off the characters voice with loud/extreme moaning. See it that you're watching a scene and you don't want everyone else to hear you or get deaf because someone is more or less screaming so loud, that you can't hear the others, due to that you have to lower the sound. Panting/moaning is not wrong, but it can sometimes or often, be at a level, where it starts turning you off and that you have to turn off the sound or skip the scene. Another issue, when the this panting/moaning is so much text that the scene-story barely progress and you have to smash a key to progress or skip and hope that you don't miss the juicy parts (you kind of have to hope that you can turn of the sound on this character).

Sometimes you wonder, if anyone did a quality check before sending the game through the different development stages?

Also a game without story or sex-scene story can be a real turn off.
Sometimes you have a story build up or that you have to battle a person in the memory room to get the story for that scene, that really cuts down on replayability and rewatching of scenes. A voice can do a lot of the erotic feel, however english dub voices or just plan translations, can be a real turnoff. Some games have really good images.
But I went straight to the memory room in the game Princess Honeypot I believe it was.
There was a few good scenes, but that kind of was all.
The game might be good, so I might play it, but first impressions, wasn't that good.

MTL tend to be another nightmare, however, it's sometimes necessary when you want to play a game.
But in these cases, if possible, a good idea would to be to just make some re-writing of the sex scenes.
Doesn't have to be accurate, just make it erotic.

Some think that animal porn, when characters are animals with fur are attractive, especially with no human involved?

Shrinking/making something larger, often makes the target so small and always at a very small size, that the sex scenes gets very repetitive.
This could easily be solved with different sizes, likely not done, because it would be harder to make these images and that means less content due to the time and skills needed. Stories of these games can often be very repetitive (same with images) or focus on grinding in the same kind of scenes and that do get boring quickly. Sometimes you wonder if the developer are trying to make porn for a specific genre, not meant for itself and lacking the interest to explore it and ask around (outside of the core-fans).

You often need to hear the negative critics, not the positive ones, to understand what something lacks and then try to understand the content in question. In some cases however, it's like "No, I have decided on how this game should be and I'll not change it", along with a squad of cheerleaders. Now some do take in information from all feedback, but in many cases you wonder if they don't see that it's becoming very bland? Vanilla only take you so far and then you need a very good story or gameplay to cater those groups instead. And it's one thing to add scenes later in the story, compared to going back randomly here and there (tedious for the player, unless a memory room auto-unlocks that content by progression).

Vore works similar with that above, it tend to be repetitive and often with the same images and few images for the scenes.
Vore require good scenes, if the general character art is lacking.

100 different paths, requiring replaying the game several times.
At these games, you just start looking for a save.

I'll be stopping now before the list gets any longer.
No offense to anyone and I know that it can be hard to re-write stories and programing instructions, especially if you work with set release dates.
However, sometimes you have to reevaluate some paths.

Games where the very first choice you make changes the game entirely and is essentially the only choice that matters. "Dom/sub" paths are particularly bad offenders here.
The axiom that "choices should matter" in a game only goes so far. When one choice so drastically changes the kind of content you have access to that you fracture your base into "people who tend to go down this path or the other," you are committing to working on two projects at once and forcing players to download heaps of content they have no intention of ever seeing.

It might make sense, on the surface, to cast a broad net and cater to two large and distinct potential supporters. But when it's done in this lazy manner, you're subjecting your fanbase to much longer development cycles and/or updates that provide nothing of value to half of the people playing the game.
The impact that the most important choices you make have should be constrained by a central theme. The nuance that your choices can add to your "alpha gigachad with a harem simulator" or "chastised sissy cuck RPG" will be much more interesting than what effectively amounts to a toggle switch for which game you get to play.

This is an old post, but very well put and I agree whole-heartedly. I feel this way about games with separate "love" and "corruption" routes for particular LIs. Instead of doing the Witcher 2 thing of basically two different stories, it's so much more interesting when the writer picks a central theme for the relationship, but allows variations and optional kinks along the way.

I don't like having to have a million saves in order to traverse a bunch of unknown story branches, where unknown options are based on playing the game in a thousand different combinations.

I wish games would just start building in the options to choose routes as you want, and where storylines must branch, be forthcoming with what effects that branch decision has on the rest of the game.

Also just build cheats into the game without penalties.

I know most people just use rpgmaker and rpgmaker doesn't really tell you how to make a game like what I'm suggesting, but also would like these games with features to just let you jump to parts of the game of interest, and choose options regardless of behind the scenes variables like previous decisions that you've made.

Essentially, just make everything optional and easy to experience without needing a 100% save or a guide or a save file editor.

You know when you go get the game and dl a 100% save so you can unlock the whole gallery so you can peruse that content ala carte? Basically just design the whole ass game to be ala carte from the very beginning, and let me skip the whole sex-game-detective time investment.

Magic Dick
Your dick is literally so good that anyone you sleep with gets addicted.
It's nice to be validated by your partner but it's always "ur dick is so big omg"

Start of game exposition dumps. I get that you have to set up the basics of the story, but I would rather figure it out by watching scenes play out and assuming based on context clues. I don't need to know the backstory of PC or of everyone else immediately, let the story play out and reveal info as it becomes relevant. Or at the very least, convey the exposition in a more interesting way than a huge paragraph at the start of the game.

Bad Conveyance.
If I'm playing a platformer, one of the first things that will occur is there will be a ledge that I cannot walk up, I have to jump. And until I jump, I don't get to move further through the level. A solid game will have multiple moments like this to teach the basics of how to interact with the systems.

I expect NSFW games to do the same. If there are dialogue choices, teach me early on what those choices actually mean for your game in a setting that has low-stakes so that later in the game, when those choices appear, I have some context with which to inform my decisions.

Definitely something many games could incorporate: optional hints that telegraph the consequences of a choice. E.g. "[unlocks XYZ fetish]" next to some choices.

Fully agreed with those two points, For the first one I would say that for the purpose of plot development and for the sake of having a scene, a good practice for devs would be having the player engage with this character at some point but it ends with that, you don't need to have all characters willing to get laid with the MC every time and you definitely don't need to have all of them fall in love with the player, sometimes, like in real life, it can simply stop as a single night of fun, or maybe the MC and this character did like each other at some point but due to plot development they both agreed that it is better to end it so the MC can go and find someone else.

About the second, I could not agree more, harems are structurally and conceptually uninteresting and to be frankly honest, de-humanize the partner characters by making them merely "pokemon" as you mentioned, I really would like to see more games which trying to crazily engage with all the characters would give consequences for the player.

New one for me lately is "Your best friend screwed/wants to screw you over and stole/steal your girl." There's a few games where its guys helping each other score without full frat bro. I think Leap of Faith and Acting Lessons are some good examples. I'm not dissing NTR, it just gets tiring seeing authors pick that one angle over and over.

That's my main problem with the Harem genre, I can't get my head on how a bunch of women (or men) gets so hypnotized by the magic dick of the MC, swear eternal love, gets out of her/his house and fucks the next one that lives one block away. I could make my game an harem, sandboxes are perfect for that, but no, I went on the one LI route, locking the others as soon as a storyline is started.
