Yeah... It seems that all the choices that were introduced in the first few updates have no incidence whatsoever. I was really hoping to have a more "pushing/controlling" path with Alex but no, all the choices I've made up until this point (choosing sleep stuff, the controlling scene in the WC and I think going for what 3dr officially calls the corruption route) still lead to MC refusing to push things with her and by his own words, being "overprotective" :WaitWhat:

Still enjoyed the update even though it was short. Dunno how in the fuck 3dr counts 2300 renders because it sure as hell didn't feel like it. I also had this sentiment on his preview update. The handful of games I play that have 600-900 renders per update definitely feel a lot longer.

Edit: Yeah... I checked the files for day 9. There are many renders that are nearly identical, with only minor variations such as facial expressions or hand positions. That's fine I guess.

However, in some scenes, there's a render (house with two characters shown for exemple), the focus shifts to a character, and then it shifts back to that house render. Well that render is copied and pasted and counted twice. Furthermore, some identical renders (same size, no visual difference) are reused over five times, each time simply renamed.

I don’t know why he does this, but wtf that's being extremely dishonest—especially considering that literally everybody can use unren to check games files.

Man I knew it felt short for a reason, I'm extremely disappointed

Born and raised in the States. People who think they're hearing "would have" are hearing (and eventually repeating) would've. As a retired teacher who career changed from 15 years working in publishing and curriculum design, I'm quite familiar with how people are sloppy when translating the speaking voice to the page (to vs too vs two, their vs there vs they're are a couple examples that get routinely abused in this game as well . . . are those errors okay with you as well?)

Should the writer be writing "Djeet Jet?" for "did you eat yet?" I'd argue that if you were having a conversation with somebody, that you wouldn't know with metaphysical certitude whether (not weather, that's another one) the person is saying would've versus would of. So, what is particularly wrong with getting it correct for the reader? The argument that it's a stylistic and strategic choice by the writer is a dog that won't hunt given the general sloppiness of the writing in general.

For example, some of the characters in the course of a single conversation use "would have" in some sentences and "would of" in others. Is the person "uneducated" or not? And if all the characters are similarly flawed, are we to conclude that every single character is uneducated in the exact same way, or is it more likely that the author continues to ignore some basic grammar and usage issues that have been pointed out with each release? There's a difference between being intentional in one's writing and being sloppy . . . you can put a pig in a prom gown, but it doesn't make it the homecoming queen.

And as an American, I will definitely concur with the observation that there's a gigantic population of folks in this country who are smart like a sack of hammers. If the rest of the world didn't know that already, they sure figured it out over the last six months or so.
* Imagine a character listens to Jimi Hendrix's Purple Haze and mishears "kiss the sky" as "kiss this guy." If he goes on to sing the song himself, he will sing "kiss this guy." The correct lyrics are 100% irrelevant. A character who says "would of" is just doing the same thing.

* Taking a toothless yokel character from Appalachia and having him speak like a Harvard grad would be absolutely horrible writing. Am I okay with characters making linguistic errors? I'm far more than okay with it, though this can be done well or poorly.

* "Djeet Jet" would be an extremist example of eye dialect done poorly. Any decent writing teacher will endorse eye dialect when it's done well, as when a drunk says, "So I sez to her...," to illustrate diminished mental capacity. Not only is the spelling wrong, but so is the grammar, and it's far better writing in this context than, "Then I said to her..."

I just feel that it's becoming a visual novel, which is fine but just not into that. I like to make choices.

Also the whole multiple screens used to just walk around seems wasteful.
This right fucking here. Like why is every single thing a frame. Walking....driving....returning from driving.....every framed from the forced threesome. I mean its almost like he wants to animate it but cant. Could cut out a third of the frames and have more content. This is one of the problems with long release gaps.

If you didn't realize from his pontificating he already thinks he's smarter than the dev. No one speaks in proper English......not even the English. He couldn't even get that point across without pointing to the obvious nod to the "last six months" he was clearly on the losing side of and is not taking it well. Of course not realizing the staunch tribalism makes people feel you're less intelligent than anything else. Even worse waving credentialism as a measure of intelligence when those credentials can be obtained by overly drunk toddlers is hilarious.

He assumes bad grammar automatically means stupidity, which if you think about it that also includes slang terms and just affectations of dialect. You are correct when saying its bad writing to have everyone speak proper English all the time. It comes off as monotone in text. It's also very unrealistic. Even educated people speak in a manner which they generally hear the language spoken. That is there is a textbook way to speak English, but not an incorrect one if the point is carried across. That's how you get accents and sayings. This happens with all languages. The way this argument is presented, minorities who speak in slang terms are generally stupid by this logic because they do not speak grammatically correct English. Then again I'd bet when I used the term minorities he'll assume I mean racially and not geographically.

This is the type of stuff that makes most of us think Americans are stupid, not proper English dialect nor the leaders you elect. 15 years a teacher and this is the type of stuff they post in a fap game forum. Bruh.....its a fucking porn game.

People are really passionate about the English language. :D

Personally, I hardly care anymore. After playing alternatively acquired games for so long, I just need to get a grip on what's happened in the story, and that's enough. If the translation/writing is so bad that I can't figure out what's happening, I drop and move on. Not like I'm paying for it... :censored:

You can address me directly if you have something to say.

I never said that the developer was not intelligent. I pointed out that the writing is sloppy. The abundance of errors is not an attempt to be consistent in the writing of a specific character or two, and as someone who has worked with students I know the difference between intentionality and sloppiness. Highly educated people make these errors occasionally as well. It's the kind of thing that a writer ought to be catching in a proofreading run if the writer has some level of dedication to quality. I'm hardly unique in that perspective.

I don't think of the proper use of there vs their vs they're as an intelligence issue: it's more the case about taking enough care in one's writing to choose the one that matches what one intends to do as a writer. The Jimi Hendrix reference was particularly salient here, because a writer most definitely could represent a character singing Purple Haze and singing the incorrect lyrics for comic effect . . . the error would be used for a purpose and it would be silly for people to complain about the fact that the lyrics are wrong. The same thing *could* be done with using phrases like "could of" as a device to define a character in general and to give that character a different voice than other characters . . . that's just not what's happening here.

It's as obvious as a fart in an elevator that the writing in this update was sloppy even by the standards that players have come to expect from this game thus far. Add to that the disappearance of choices from the game and the creation of a singular path that seems to have rendered all previous player choices meaningless, and things don't look good for the future of this franchise.

I wouldn't venture to guess or presume anything about the developer's intelligence. It's just crystal clear that the level of care and attention that the developer gave to previous updates was not present here. That makes me sad more than anything because I really do like this game.

I played this from the beginning over the weekend. I found it incredibly interesting, even with its flaws...until the latest update. Nicole's hair change, her hair and tats was a visual representation of her spirit. Then there is, what others have mentioned, the shift off choices to more VN feel. I am involved with Ava an am fine with the event with Nicole, but that would have been a choice in previous updates. I also agree with another mention that it feels the Dev made way too much wasted animation. I don't know anyone here that wants to watch the MC drive or walk around the house. It's like a huge open world game without fast travel. There is a great story here with some potential fun, but the Dev is starting to get in his own way.

Why are there still so many typos and grammatical errors?
Probably more constructive to just report them and see if the developer fixes them. More constructive than asking questions you already know the answer to, probably.

Nicole's change really threw me. It's been long enough since I last saw her that I had to go check the gallery scene to make sure she was the girlfriend and I'd not just completely forgotten some other character.
