I forget but isn't the biological dad('s abuse?) the reason the mom is so overly protective of the twins now? If the Mc was related to him then I doubt she'd let a relative of his to watch her kids.

If you take Kayla to see her dad. it implied that they know her dad or know of. And after Kayla runs out of the cafe after meeting her dad and beating up. The MC says to themselves she has his temprer too or something to that affect
