I must admit the game is shifting it's balance of interest for me. At first I thought the MC was just an idiot who treated his wife poorly and had bad reasons and writing to behave as he did. So I had cero interest in him and much more interest on her and how she would deal with all this, as a more interesting character.
And yet, since the yatch update it has clearly been shifting for me. If we compare this last update's two characters actions, they fall right onto the other side of the balance, where the MMC is much more interesting than the FMC. In any story (specially VNs here as some of you have pointed out with the criticism on how this should turn into a kinetic novel since you couldn't avoid cheating and so on, very valid points), there are rails: we need the events to go in a certain way for the story to be told. Some teams deal better with this by really offering meaningful choices that show that even if there are rails, there are multiple paths for them, while others deal worse. But it all ends up always being a fake perception of choice, versus the reality of choice.
The problem for me and why the balance has changed is that the rails are becoming too clear on her side. Taking away the first yatch scene with the other guy, which was totally out of nowhere and unwarranted, focusing on this update, what you have makes no sense. I know, it's all the plan of the evil dude, but it shouldn't have worked. The FMC is not dumb so she knows and comments on how both of them are flirting with her, she accepts to go to a yatch alone with them (knowing what happened last time) and knows she's gonna end up fucking at least Jamal if he works for it... then does fuck with both and she's destroyed at home when she feels used. Was she expecting this to be true love or something? Sure, she was used, and I can understand the dissapointment on the lack of attention received and so on, but so much as to question going back to her quite awful husband? Not really, we just need to get there because that's the evil guys plan: get Jamal to fuck her, get her to fall for him completely and then dump her so she goes back to him... the story so far doesn't show that the events have an impact that warrants all that.
And meanwhile, on the other end, the MMC has the same rails that lead him to going back to his wife. But in this story, we see the natural evolution of the character to get to that point: he's gone back to the house, he thinks of her more often than she does of him, and even Anna is clear that she wants to be friends with benefits but he should go back and at least try to get his wife back. Sure, she can be working for the evil guy and his plan on the other side, but it doesn't matter because the story feels natural as it is. As the characters have evolved, talked and gone through things together it feels natural for him to at least send her that message. So the rails are there but they are character driven rails, which feels much more interesting and compelling. Not to mention both MC and Anna have evolved much more as characters, deepened and so on, than the FMC and any of the horny dogs around her.
So, all in all, a disapointment on one side of the coin, and a good surprise on the other. I guess, for me, it kinda balances out.
