I appreciate the intentions behind this post but, honestly, it's not helping me any.
...anyone helping someone get content is "on their side" and anyone blocking them from getting content is "against them".
Which is a relatively stupid stance to take with the
author since they are the
source of the content. Yeah, I know, people are bad at long-term planning.
You'd probably have a much easier time getting cooperation from people if it was for a set time period. "Don't post this for 6 months" is a lot more manageable for people than "Don't post this".
Unfortunately, that would defeat the purpose behind the removal, which is for my own
peace of mind. As you can see, the mod's been dead for nearly half a year and I'm
still watching it.
I have also explicitly
said that if you get another player to share, I'm okay with it as long as I don't see any of it. I'll even share the download myself if you're a known veteran player, someone I'm on good terms with, or get one of these people to vouch for you.
Apparently, people
are sharing, I'm in blissful ignorance, provide the occasional re-download to old-time players with new computers or whatnot, and all is well. I even feel a little enthusiasm returning from some of these DMs. Until the
next guy comes over and says "But of course we must repost! Yes, here, in this very thread with the dead dragon pic underscored with 'Please don't repost."
...waiting indefinitely feels like they're losing something right now.
Making the creator give up for good means they are
definitely losing something. There's even picture evidence in the thread of several of those
somethings.
And, well, unless they already have (played) the mod, how do they even
know they want it
so badly that they're willing to drive the modder up and over the wall just to get their hands on it
now? F95 has a lot of games, many far more suitable for most people's tastes, even those who are looking for dragon or management games in particular. There's no dearth of stuff to play. If they can't find any themselves, there's always the 'Recommendations & Identification' subforum.
Not to mention the problem poster before (or right after) LewdNayshin - who, to his credit, was just inattentive and not ill-intentioned - already
had the mod.
