Tbh I've tried it. But it gets boring after a while. I'm not against a story well told, but this game is just walls of text one after another, and most of what is said is pointless. It would be much more interesting if it went straight to the point more often.

This is an old game. Believe it or not, in the past most games was long and vanilla, where there was only one male mc and several diferent females. If there was other male characters was only for support or comedy. This was the norm in the past. VN games are "novels" like the term say, so is meant to be read a lot of text like a book. If some people don't like to read, there is plenty of movies or doujins in the internet. Some people don't appreciate the old classic games.

Agreed, I started with games similar to this one and the Da Capo series especially 1 & 2 are still in my top list of favourite games.
That's somewhat true... I don't care too much about slices of lives stories and the like. Unless the dialogues are worth reading them. In most of the cases (like 99%) I tend to get bored and start to skip everything till I get to see the h-scenes. On top of that, most of the times the h-scenes are a total disappointment as well.
But I still try to give a chance before judging anything here, this is why I was initially interested in this game (I watched some CGs on e-hentai and decided this title is not for me).
Actually in the past, they were more different. Back then, VN was a wasteland where ideas were treated as a dime a dozen. There was long vanilla novel-like VN, but a lot were throwing shit at the fan and trying to see what sticks. If you look at older VN, the writing was on par with fan fiction over top of a CG. As time went on, these VN had to rely more on flashy interfaces, interesting mini games (little Busters can go fuck themselves), and etc. Reading was done because it was the easiest way to do exposition and tell a story. The issue is that there are other mediums that have done it better without having to be so upfront, telling the reader instead of showing them. The VN today are just the same as before, they rely very heavily on long expositions, filler text, and very awkward additions to make the game longer than it should be. There doesn't seem to be much of an appetite to improve how stories are told. Sort of sad really.

Might have to give this a try... But all I really know about the series is Seura Isago's legendary doujins, and I feel like I'm just gonna be disappointed when the girls don't have insane proportions and MC isn't packing a foot and a half of dong like in his works.

There is no english translation of the first game, you could probably find it online but you would need to play it in japanese or use something like vnr with a machine translation. Anyway you don't need to have played the first game to play this one, it isn't a continuation of the same story or anything like that.
