if it was going to come out it would have been now or earlier. he literally says

"A Special Edition is also planned for release before the next version comes out. This mid-release will consist of a bug fix and offer a small glimpse of what's to come."

and this never happened so... another patreon lie on top of waiting 3 month periods for barely anything new when it used to be 1? great dev

The mid update come out a while ago. It has a new event with mirror Celica and Noctriel the slime in the dark world that gets introduced

The version that is updated on OP is the regular version. You need to pledge like a certain tier in Deimus' patreon page to obtain the latest version with the dev features. I remember that you also had to link your itch.io account but not sure if that's still a thing for this project. Some peeps in here have bought the tier and given out the dev builds for the respective releases in the past but none so far for this one.

Alright, good to know. Although, this version is a version number ahead of what you can get for free on itch and the like, so it's not totally normal. I get what you mean, though.

If you’re an active Patreon supporter or Deimus I would suggest getting in touch with him in Discord.
There might be an issue with your pledge perhaps.

Does anyone know how many versions behind the one here is from the Patreon version, currently I'm pretty sure it's 2 to 3 bug fixes, but I'm not sure.

Pretty much everyone would be able to catch their gallery up to whatever the latest is without changing the tool, but only by updating the game.

Phantombeast probably someone else could provide a clearer figure, but I would say about 3/5 still missing or so?
While the number of "meaningful" characters does not expand too much compared to what you have right now, there is most of the plot progression and many game mechanics which have not been unlocked yet.
