Viznity's Announcement: Hello everyone. The comments are boiling with misunderstanding. The illustration is made by Aroma Sensei, we did not claim otherwise and stated it in the credits section of the game. However, all animations and game development were done by the Viznity team. It took two months of development and we did it completely free. The game was never paid, you can think of it as a kind of "fanmade". But rude behavior of users in the comments really upset me and I withdrew from developing games for a while. And months later, I'm releasing a new update that improves game optimization. Aroma Sensei did not want to continue the development of the game, so this will remain the last update. (24/07/2021)

Hi there. Illustrations made by Aroma Sensei and her page available in the game credits section.
But do you have their permission to use their artwork? It isn't simply a matter of grabbing something and giving the creator credit. You actually should have permission before any additional use (especially if you are seeking to make money from it)

You guys don't see the hypocrisy in crying about the ethics of asset theft on a pirate site?

[edit] Let me be clear that this is not an advocation towards or against profiting from another's work. Theft is theft. Whether you gain money from stealing another person's works or you're just simply enjoying a product free-of-charge that would otherwise require you to pay. Established company vs indie company, or big vs small, however you look at it, is a terrible argument. Some big companies have started small and worked their way up. Does this exclude them from sympathy? Likewise, have you ever met a starving artist that was okay with just making ends meet? I doubt it. I'd assume they all want to live comfortably. We're all stealing from someone, somewhere. That is the common denominator. While you think it may just be black & white, the gray area still exists. I'm just as guilty as the rest of you...

Still, I write this with peace and love. Consider where you stand and whether it holds its own weight. You'd be surprised with looking into the mirror.

ps: Y'all know Elsa/Anna is a copyright with Disney, huh? You sue Aroma and then what? Disney gets involved? Your moment of ethical clarity doesn't sound so valiant anymore, does it?

This is definitely "How to get sued for Copyright infringement 101". Taking someone else's art and making a game without permission then profiting directly from it. This is a slam dunk if you're in a place you can be sued.

No, there's a difference. If you pirate something the creator loses a sale, although some would argue that the pirate would never have purchased the product to begin with.

When you sell someone else work, you are making a profit off of them. Furthermore, you might damage their reputation if your product isn't good and your customers believe that you are working with the endorsement of those you stole from. If the orignal creators get any credit to begin with that is.

Posting games for free in my opinion is not the same thing as stealing content and profiting from it.

It's the same false analogy people use when people are pirating other games. Most people wouldn't pay for these games if they couldn't get them here for free. They just wouldn't play them, so it's not analogous to theft.

I've also on several occasions tried a game, liked it and supported the creator. This is more of a try before you buy site for me. The reality is that really good games are diamonds in the rough and no one wants to pay for 20 different games just to find one they like.

But taking someones art without permission, making a profit, and not cutting them in? Yeah that's a different matter.

F95 is basically the only aggregate of adult games, and acts as a colossal signal boost for a lot of small time creators. Although all of *vaguely gestures in the air* this is inherently unethical, posts on f95 tend to drum up a lot of support for creators with no other medium for people to see their work. See people like Oni who have hugely successful patreon campaigns due in large part to this community.

I agree that there is definitely hypocrisy, but I suppose in the loosest sense there is a communal set of "standards" in which thinks like blatant asset rips are pushed out of the community. The whole "bad but could be worse" sort of thing, I guess.

I think this sort of discussion is super interesting regardless, I'd be super curious about what the overriding community opinion is, assuming that people even think about the ethicality of all this.
