Their download mirrors are shit, but not a lot of places where I can reliably go to get same day releases.

Alright, some good news. I have the game working unpacked, which I wasn't able to do before, with fully integrated DLC. It will take me some time to get everything done translation wise. IIRC there was a lot of manual cleanup I needed to do for Excel Chiffon because of the complexity of the code, and the DLC added a lot of new content.

Vague news, the game is 8GB unpacked, which is a lot. I am still not sure what the mode2 and mode3 folders do, but it seems like they duplicate all of the basic sprites at higher resolutions. Might play around with those and see what happens when I remove them.

The bad news, fuck the devs, man, this is so obnoxious. They upscaled the game from 1360x765 to 1366x768 requiring me to remake all of the background images with hardcoded Japanese in them. Stg they did this just to piss me off.

To be able to reverse engineer the game and translate it is truly awesome.
You are truly skilled. Take your time!
Though what happens if you keep the old images?
If it's just a slightly lower resolution maybe it's not that big of an issue? Or does it break things

So if i'm guessing right, you have to edit the new images, correct?
What if when you do it, you just paste the old image. I don't think the difference in sizes is enough, it could look ugly but just a little, i mean, this way it'll be less work for you.

Yeah, I still have all the old templates, so it'll just be a matter of reexporting them at a slightly higher resolution. More annoying than anything, especially since the gap is so small.

Yeah, no, it's not only you; it tends to do that with this game engine (kirikiri). Might be worth doing a "Restore original text" if you're gonna do a lot of skipping and no unread text is likely to appear (will still be a bit slower than without the tool, but much faster than in translated state).
