I need to finish the demo but from what I remember, it is mentioned before the bath event. (Also, there´s a lot of text between events and some things we aren´t able to see at the moment)
But I get your point, it would have been better if the ribbon were introduced in the first scene of the game.

Still, I feel it doesn't minimize the level of betrayal that Arika just did in this new event.

I dont remember when it is mentioned but the ribbon topic it is said at least 2 times in the demo, but none of this is mentioned either when they were kids or in the first scenes when arika and kurt are already a couple and they talk about their good past memories as kids, these actually should be the most important scenes to put the ribbon topic on, there is not even a short scene showing kurt giving arika the ribbon, which is more than enough to understand the ribbon true impact on the story better.

But of course, this bitch got no excuse, at this point I think kurt should have chosen Rietta over Arika, at least she didnt betray him out of free will, she got a whole mind reset due to the hipnosis and the goblin magic surgery

This scenes doesnt need actual CG to work, he could have made them only with the dialogue and the rpg just like he did with the rest of the childhood scenes at the start of the demo.
