Hi, update.

As carolbubby stated above, he is working on making picture edits and I appreciate all the work he's doing.

20% of the sex scenes are done (~4000/20000 lines), and out of 3 dungeons I've finished up to the 2nd dungeon. I should say that the game is split into two parts, one where it plays out like an RPG, and the other is akin to a scene viewer.

Wanted to do a quick poll, but would people rather I keep the honorifics of this game (i.e. Onii-sama/Kimo-ojisama) or translate them completely to English variants (i.e. Darling/Gross old man)?

I currently have both versions, so either works with very little need to edit the scenes.

Thirded. I think the vast majority of the people liable to like this game are weeby enough to prefer it that way.

I don't mind either but i think translating them to english makes more sense? and feels more natural. I think it sounds more insulting /sweet when english words are used such as "gross old man" or "darling" and personally anyone using honorifics in english makes me want to cringe.

What are you saying DominantFutanari-san, using honorifics in English is totemo sugoi desu yo

I used to try and translate literally everything into English (including honorifics) because of how odd it sounded to have random -chan and -san's in a mostly English game, but I've come to realize it really depends on the audience and the content of the media in general.

Ceres and the Contract Guild, for example, I think I could get away with leaving out honorifics, but I consider Flan to be a different beast than that one.

Yeah, it's a very context sensitive matter. I actually agree with the original honorifics being left in usually being bad, but from what I could gather from the garbled machine translation posted here earlier, the language Flan uses has kind of a specific feel. Since it's that feel we want to preserve alongside the whole Mesugaki archetype, I feel translating 'onii-sama' as 'darling' or even 'big bro' or what have you sort of falls short.

It probably would be possible to translate all of that, but it would require a pretty heavy and careful localization effort, and I don't see that as being necessarily worthwhile for a fan translation.

Hi, update.

40% done, which is about 8000/20000 lines completed.

Did you know that this game is like 20% sound effects, girls moaning, and the main antagonist creepily laughing?
I know because I randomly went through and translated only these kinds of lines for a while and I got a solid 3-4% done in a single day and didn't even get to the end of the file.

Also where did all of you come from, I swear there were only like three active people on this thread last time I checked.

Oh no don't be sorry, I didn't mean it as in like an "I expect people to like my comments and be active" way. I just didn't expect it to gain this much traction in so little time.

It's taking time, I try to bang out 250 lines per day (~1%), but obviously I have commitments besides this. Hopefully I'm able to translate it entirely and make it worth the effort. Same with carolbubby, I can't thank them enough for their hard work.

When I get to 50% I want to touch base and give more updates in advance about the characters, translating notes, tags, etc.

I'm pretty sure it will worth the effort, you just don't have to overwork yourself for us. After all you doing this for free, 250 lines per day sound lot for me. Anyway take your time as much as you need and thank you carolbubby for helping translate the picture. It's rare to see dedication for fan translation

I'm not too surprised that there's some interest. It's Touhou at the end of it all, and Touhou has its audience, so there's probably a bunch of people at least keeping vague tabs on this thread.

Speaking of which, I'm legitimately impressed with the pace of this project. Thank ye kindly for your hard work~

Thanks a lot for you work.
I like Puranpuman's recents works a lot, but MTL makes it look too goofy by how much dialogue-heavy the scenes are
So with a proper translation it will be much nicer

I used to do translations quite quickly because it was a hobby of mine. I don't have as much time (I used to spend 6+ hours daily on them, it was basically a job) since I'm busy juggling between my current job and online classes. Now I do it to blow off steam or if it catches my particular interest or fetish. Common sense alteration is pretty niche, but I personally enjoy it.

I started translating because MTL sucks. A lot. I appreciate the people who try and put effort into restructuring MTL, but it's always disheartening to see a good product ruined by a machine garbling the text. IMO MTL should only be used as a tool, never the final product. It is sad to hear that dedication is a rare sight in these parts, translations should be treated with more care, though I understand why there's always a mass amount of MTL so I can't really complain.
