"Screen sizes less than 1024px are not supported." So it's not possible to bypass this restriction on a phone?

It's not about "bypassing the restrictions", I've added this to avoid people getting into the game and then realizing that it doesn't work as intended. The interface that handles animated scenes requires a certain screen width, and below that things just break down.

The game is designed with large screens in mind. When it's complete, I will see if I can code an alternative UI for phones, but it will need to rebuild a lot of scenes from the ground up since there simply isn't enough space to show concurrent text and animations as is currently the case.

So, is version 0.4.03, which is available for phones, not as good as the latest versions, or what? Is it not even worth trying? And my phone has a resolution of 2400 x 1080, so why is it still "less than 1024px are not supported." Well, in any case, it's your decision as a developer, but I just find such games more convenient on my phone.

To answer your question on version 0.4.03, there was a moment in development when I tried to create a separate mobile UI and to maintain it in parallel so people could play on phones. However, there were several issues with this:

-not everything could be translated automatically to the new UI and there were lots of stuff that would break and need custom fixes;
-doing both in parallel slowed down development considerably, and there is a point when I have to consider if something is worth the effort
-last but not least, you will find that there are many different ways to present scenes in the game, from a simple image to complex composition, and I found myself liking more and more the big, animated scenes where the screen is split in two and you get both text and and an interactive image side by side on top of a background which is part of the scene; These new scenes translate particularly poorly to phone screens, resulting in, at best, a sub-par experience for the user.

For the reasons above I've disabled phones. Enabling the game on phones would mean telling players "hey you can play this on your phone" and I just don't feel this is true at the moment, considering how broken many scenes will come up.

Out of curiosity, time and resources aside, how would you port a scene like this for a phone?

Images in the background, the writing over it. probably with thicker outlines, for visibility.
make it so you can swipe the text to a side so only the image is left on screen. swipe again to make text reappear.

the left bar with all the stats needs an icon somewhere, that you can tap to make it appear/disappear. maybe the most importent ones visible at the top.
how you would deal with the image ratio, that is clearly not meant for tiny screens, I have no clue.

It's really difficult and honestly if I where you, I would probably not bother with it, cause it's such a massive hassle. You'd have to put in so much ressources, to make it work and it's just not worth it imo.
It's all time you could instead spend developing the actual game.

I genuinely cant get the barrel for the gasoline. The prompt doesn't show up and it keeps saying to come back when the time feels right but I've been there throughout the day and it says the same thing. I have talked to Zach and completed lavius's questline and it still hasnt shown up.

don't be deceived by this being "html sheets of text" type of game. it is surprisingly interactive and tightly packed with interesting stuff, if you be a little bit patient and get in to it.

I am currently reading Dracula, and every time I pick it up, I start thinking of this game. I really enjoyed it, and I think it offers something that very few other games does. It executes on its ideas really well. The images are great, and they are a large part of why it all woks so well together. Around chapter 2 strange things starts happening, and I really enjoy that aspect of mystery. It sort of reminds me of H.P Lovecraft.

I'll do a longer review write-up in the future, but I felt like the game's scope really collapsed in on itself in the last chapter. It goes from the day 1 exploration (that takes a fair bit of time) into the next day's story (which doesn't take as long and has fewer solutions for progressing) before wrapping up very quickly on the last day. Maybe it'll change in the future but it stood out to me as weird, as the variety of encounters and creatures in the first two chapters really added to the overall atmosphere. Solid experience either way, though I'm not sure what remaining content (if any) is planned.

Thanks for your thoughts, happy you've enjoyed the experience so far! A few answers for you:

-first of all, the game does receive regular updates and certainly more content is planned until the story is fully fleshed out

-Regarding Chapter 2, it's currently the smallest one, which is why I've been working on expanding and polishing it. Development is a bit cyclical, and I've switched around working on different chapters and branches to avoid burnout.

-Chapter 3 is actually pretty massive, HOWEVER it's where things really start branching off into their espective endings based on your choices for your own fate and who you side with. Because of that, while every chapter inevitably has content that you won't see on a given playthrough, this goes especially hard for chapter 3, as endings are mutually exclusive and there are a LOT of them (and more planned)
