In section v36061, I can't get the Gothic Key to open the right door in Madalyn's room. None of the keys I have are working.

That's correct. It can take dozens of exit/re-entry before a large fish of any kind appears. And according to the Squallmart customer in v48, natural jig is the exact type of lure to use for hammerheads.

By the way, I don't know if it had only started with v48 or if it was earlier, but Squallmart customers are now giving out proper game tips instead of just talking about random stuff.
