What?? Suggestions?? Nope. Nope. Nope. With my luck I would hit right in the heart of your most hated one... so, no, expand your Universe by yourself.

A lot of bad shit has happened in world history "for the greater good". I don't think that's even remotely an excuse for how they torture and "reward" success among their own people. That just sounds like an excuse for being evil. So the cult's goals notwithstanding, they are pieces of garbage for doing what they do (minus the hunting of evil artefacts, obviously).i mean its like a tau/inquisition mix
"for the greater good" and "a Gray Knight walks into a bar, nobody sees him leave"
if they are religiously obliged with guarding artifacts like the one Eshe is hunting to keep them out of bad peoples hands what are few hunters every decade in comparison to the possibility of a centuries old Lich running rampart with an mind controlled order of religious zealots as their pets?
What is wrong with you?
That's kind of the point, when you are "inside" you don't see how fucked up things are, especially if you are born in to the order (or "drafted" from the orphanage at really young age) and you really wouldn't know better until you are sent out to the larger world. And the smarter ones do learn from early age to hide what they are feeling and pretending to buy the bullshit, then just wait the day they are sent out and vanish.A lot of bad shit has happened in world history "for the greater good". Looks more like a page from a femism textbook
I'm alright thanks for asking, just haven't been super active on here.
Yep. And that was kind of my point as well. There was mentioned about her final destiny, and I was just saying that anyone who doesn't want to rescue Eshe from that cult is effectively rubber-stamping their methods. Just an opinion, but it's how I see it.That's kind of the point, when you are "inside" you don't see how fucked up things are, especially if you are born in to the order (or "drafted" from the orphanage at really young age) and you really wouldn't know better until you are sent out to the larger world. As you said yourself, a lot of shit has been done in the name of "greater good", but the problem with that is that the people doing it were genuinly convinced that they are doing good. It's fucked up, but it is also the reality, sadly. One mans hero is anothers villain, depends on the point of view of things and all that. Yes, I might be slightly cynical >.>
You still fucked her, so I wouldn't be talking shit if I were you.
Difference here is that irl shit that happened didn't actually have legit threat like lich gaining power and killing everyone in a region. Yes the orders are fucked up in how they work, but in this game's case, they at least are trying to defend against legitimate threat, instead of fictional one like the real life inquisition did etc... Now would there be better way to deal with these threats, maybe, but with how much corrupting power these items seem to have, it's not easy to come up with fool proof plan to secure safety of everyone. Some times you only have the option of choosing lesser evil from the options you have and no good option. Especially since it seems like just the knowledge about these things might inspire people, that are seeking power and wealth without any regard for morality, to try and get access to these items. Hence all the secrecy the cults/orders try to keep around them.A lot of bad shit has happened in world history "for the greater good". It's a "legitimate threat" in a fantasy VN, but if it's real life, it's obviously a "fictional one".Difference here is that irl shit that happened didn't actually have legit threat like lich gaining power and killing everyone in a region. well demons, elves and orcs/ogres are in kthulian's game and this lacks demons.
I would argue that the threat being real instead of fictitious matters quite a lot. Especially when they have proof of necromancy/magic existing. It's not that i'm arguing that they are good or that their methods are good, i'm just saying that their actions are at least understandable and in the setting somewhat acceptable, due to the threat they have. As i said, some times threats/crisis doesn't have good options to solve it, only bad and least bad option. That is also true in real life. Which also means i definitely am not faulting any hunters who after finishing their task, decides to retire and not return. It's a "legitimate threat" in a fantasy VN, but if it's real life, it's obviously a "fictional one".I mean, the actual point is that the groups act on what they believe to be a threat, full stop. It doesn't matter whether the threat is real or not — I assume there would be folks in the world of this game who think liches or similar are just myths to scare kids or whatever. The point is that people act based on what they believe is real. Believing there is a real danger doesn't justify torturous child-abuse training or treating people like discardable assets. I get that they have reasons; I just don't buy into the "it's OK; we were super scared" excuses as being valid.
