A software that trigger 25% alerts from a panel of 70 security tools, then trigger even more with its last version in date, can possibly be "just suspicious", but is absolutely not "perfectly safe".
That you decided to believe a totally anonymous stranger who claimed that it was just 20 false positive is both amazing and frightening. How someone can be this naively confident?
Did you really expected another answer than this? Do you really believe that a bad guy would say, "yeah, you're right, my software is dangerous"?
Once again, it doesn't mean that it was a voluntary move, but it's something that he should have addressed and fixed as much as possible. Instead he just made it worse...
