If we're being pedantic then yes of course it wasn't a promise. It was a deadline the dev put out there though. But I'm not too fussed by it. It's a little dissapointing but like I said hopefully nothing bad happened and we get to play the long awaited remake soon.

Well we can't do anything else besides waiting. It will come out when it is ready. It probably won't be today.
Well him playing the game today and 200 days before it is 0 indication of the game coming out faster than normal

I mean I check his discord pretty often and most of the time he is either on charastudio or ren'py. This last month he has been "playing" the game a lot more often but that is to be espected if the game is almost ready. He has to test it. I don't think he would've said that he was planning on releasing it today if it wasn't close to being finished.
Personally I don't really care that much, we've already waited a year, it doesn't really make much difference if we have to wait a few more days.
I'm sure he is closed to finished but close to finished to him could be in a week or two
Do we know if there are gonna be more scenes than when they started the remake with 0.7.3? I'm see the character redesigns announcements but nothing else (I don't really check their discord super frequently so I might have just missed a post about it).

i do think he should at least let his patreon supporters know when it will be a delay. Quick 1min post hey ran into some trouble ima need an additional "blank" amount of time.
maybe he shouldn't gotten ahead of himself showing us 50 remade characters, 20 area and 10 new areas when all the first version will get is the hospital and hell/heaven

or in a year from now when those parts come out he changes his mind and puts extra time into it all... just like this remake
I think this remake was worth. He's objectively gotten better at character creation, there were major clipping issues with the old models that he's resolved, the characters are even more unique than they were from stock Koikatsu characters before while maintaining his signature aesthetic, we get even more "household" members, and hopefully he improves some of the writing from early on; I think he's gotten better on that front.or in a year from now when those parts come out he changes his mind and puts extra time into it all... just like this remake
He had absolutely zero experience with any 3d work when he started this project (well, I guess he did from the game he made that got obliterated when he lost a hard drive that never saw the light of day) and put out an expansive project that didn't rely on the lazy toolkit a lot of Koikatsu creators do that make their games instant ignores. Even so, he saw the flaws in his work and potential for improvement and decided what he'd done wasn't up to what the skills he'd acquired since beginning this project enabled him to do and wouldn't be a good foundation going forward, as great as it already is.
He's not going to gain exponential leaps in skill in another year to the point where it would warrant restarts/complete redesigns as this first project has. Any changes we get going forward will probably be more in terms of animation, lighting, posing, and writing skills which will just result in incrementally better updates. I haven't given a cent to him (not proud of it or anything, just stating facts in case anyone thinks I'm shilling. I might this year since I'm not broke but saving for more important things as well), but this is clearly far and away the most creative use of koikatsu for a game creator with an actual story behind their work and the competition isn't even close IMO.
I know I'm probably responding to a throwaway/jokey comment but I think a lot of people are underestimating the level of improvement this reboot constitutes in a technical sense. Honestly I haven't minding waiting over a year for this (damn, it's been that fucking long...) and don't mind waiting a bit more. Besides, Power Vacuum and Shattered Minds updated got plenty to tide me over

When he first released this game he already had a lot of characters created that were not in the original prologue. I think having most of the character designs, maps, etc done before the prologue is released, is a good thing since after all that stuff is out of the way he can just focus on the story and the lewd parts. Designing the characters and having each one of them feel unique is probably one of the most time consuming parts of a game. It sucks having to wait a year for the remake but I think after it is released he will go back to a much more regular update schedule.
