The release of the new project will not affect TFA in any way, it was an announcement and nothing more. I can't even say when the game will be released, so don't worry about it. That's not going to happen in the next couple of months.

I have always found the game unclear in terms of how to progess but that encourages experimentation and adds to the charm. The current chapter however I just find super frustrating and I have never managed to play more than an hour without giving up in exasperation at a failure to trigger anything much of interest. It seems like every interaction requires me having items/monocoins but no way to get them, is the only way to progess to cheat? Is the only way to get into the city to borrow money? and doesn't that lead to a game over after 3 days? how do I know if I'm supposed to take dusty with me or leave him outside? Is there any point staying outside the city as I've tried going through days just doing that and nothing intersting happens? This is probably just me playing it incorrectly but I just find it exasperrating and wanted to vent somewhere.

I feel the same way. At this point I wait very long lengths of time so that the game can get a few updates ahead. My last save is me just getting into the open world and talking to a noble woman for a quest. I think that was update v 0.36. If the version you played was 0.39 then I guess we're in for a bit of a wait.

I would say a good amount, Jeannette from the furry camp comes to mind and her content is optional. There's also the futa in the prologue

In the prologue, you play as a female, in chapter 1 you play as a male, and in the second you play as both.
