It's why I'm leaning towards him being a clone, who they allow Jackie to rescue. The androids they tried became unstable (MK.24 killing Celeste's sister), so they went the old-fashioned "accelerated clone" route. That's the only way I can explain the possibility of phantom memories.

Now I'm guessing that MK.29 is a stable variant with unlocked potential, they will attempt a return to androids and make the next MC MK.30... unless someone saves them?

Artemis' potential is unknown and has an exceedingly advanced form of machine learning due to the massive software upgrades. Plus Artemis was designed to carry a child to term in an artificial womb.

All true, but there is nothing so far indicating that Nyah isn't capable of the same. And in fact, Artemis' hardware is significantly older, as they were developed by the parents of Kindra, who have both been deceased for a number of years.

They should be able to hack into whatever secret database the mom had. If the mom had made her genetic material the key to accessing her researches why didn't she take the son away and entrust him to someone else? Leaving him to the dad was basically leaving his the keys, and why does the dad still need the son? He had years to unlock those researches why does he still need to keep the son at hand? If the mom had hidden something in the ring, why leave it with the son which she had left with the dad? It shouldn't have been difficult for him to find it. How the fuck in the middle of all this crap was the MC unable to discover his family's corporation was the major employer? With just about everyone connected to it how has this bit of information failed to come up? Its enraging their is some enteresting elements to this game, namely some of the women, but everything else is pretty much garbage.

About the dad being clownlike evil and mom still being married to him in the past: my guess/suspicion is that the dad took the drug at some point, he maybe was just a more or less "normal" ambitious guy looking for success but after taking the drug it turned into his sole reason to live or something like that.

Imo it would tank the story (even more?) if he really is just superevil for the sake of the story and without any kind of explanation/logic. The evil villain speech to expose himself just to reset everyone (?) afterwards was so stupid, corny and way too much lol

Its kinda written on the wall that he killed the mom too and im kinda baffled how the mc doesnt even have this suspicion himself yet considering how his dad had treated him and the last talk with his mom.

What the mom did was 100% irresponsible (and stupid), he was a stupid little boy and entirely clueless, how come the dad never simply even asked him if mom gave him something/told him something?

It looks like this whole story is riddled with inconsistencies and plotholes and i have HUUUGE doubts that drifty has the answer for all of these. Still curious how nobody on the island ever noticed how some people are regularly reset and that while they still have contact with their friends/familys at home.

Its like "Lost" in even worse and even less logic as they arent even isolated on the island

next chapter we will get timetravel and gods

I find it likely that they're all in some simulation instead of actually on an island, it's the only way a "reset" makes any sense. Welcome to the Matrix...

Enjoyed the update content-wise and was glad for some more time with Geneva considering there wasn't much of that in the last update. Have to say, curious if Drifty can tightly wrap up the loose-ends regarding the MC's lost year, Aiden's plan, Eudora's secret, and everything else. Hard to understand Aiden's need for the MC unless he's more in the dark than he's led us to believe. Hope Aiden isn't a one-note villain and there's more to him. I like the idea of him taking the drug to further seek his ambition. Anything along those lines would be interesting. For the sake of theorizing, going to say maybe it's closer to Truman Show levels of controlling everything than maybe a simulation along the lines of The Matrix. Kind of curious how much story Drifty plans to tell here. With Leap of Faith, it was a much more smaller-scale story and could focus and had a relatively easy to understand end. Not really seeing the endpoint goal here unless it's simply bringing light to the unlawful things the company is doing, but it's still unclear what that entails in terms of exposing them and/or the true extent of their goals. Lastly, the scene with Nick was nice.

original since daddy asshole refers him as his son and he wouldn't do that on mere clone. flashback/dream is ms vasquez drugging mc before mc getting dragged to hospital.
