Ugh so many games with potential wasted with boring tedious sandbox mechanics. If I download a novel and see a UI interface with what day it is or how much money I have I've immediately lost interest. No offense to the developer but does anyone actually enjoy these "freeroam" sandbox games?

I wouldn't have the problem with sandbox games if devs could just fucking restrain themselves at the start.

"Oh, I want to have 5 girls in first release, 3 living with MC, 2 outside, and 5 working locations"
OK, so for that I need.... hmmm... 40-50 rooms, empty of course.
And those empty rooms are all corridors leading to where girls are.
Now, for work, 5 mandatory clicks minimum to do basic action.
And let's add 20 stats and skills in that MC needs to grind from first update, so you need 10 years ingame to get a kiss from a girl.
There, now my 5 minutes of content requires 8 hours of playtime.
Wonderful, let's do this! "

I'm not saying that for this VN (just downloaded it, yet to play), just how it is 99% of the time whenever sandbox tag exists.

I'm not offended, it's true and I thought the same. But eventually I also got bored of a text-only game, I guess as Moosica says there is something for everyone. I now appreciate being able to get out of the text and do other things :sneaky:

And another thing that is very true is that "freeroam" games are boring, because of the lack of content, I totally agree. My game is far from having the content I want to finish the chapter. I still have a lot of work to do to be able to say that sandboxes are not boring. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Exactly, that's just what I mean by boring games. I have scenarios that only have one room, because you don't need more. It will already have content and will be used in another way. Before it required for everything certain skills, now they are recommended but it depends on the player, etc... (Not all, it is a game that still needs a lot of work )

You will also see empty areas, they are in process, the empty room in the apartment is for you to choose a roommate that you will meet later. In the next event with Henry etc. What is here is because it is being used in the version I work with.

And regarding 8 hours of gameplay to get a kiss , yes, it's happened to me.... Hahahahahaha

But for me it's more based on the personality of each character. Some people are more accessible, like Jeanne, and some people are more complicated. It's my opinion, I think it's better that each character has their own way of being and reacting to what the player does.

Yes.

In fact, I often prefer them, as (when done well, which is rare), they allow me to dictate my own pace of progress, repeat certain scenes at will, and be able to get a fix of gameplay in between updates too.

However, Free Roam and Sandbox are not the same. There are many, many games with Free Roam elements (most of them rather poorly done) where you can go anywhere. But for true 'Sandbox' games there are very, very few. A sandbox is not about just being able to go where you want, it is more about being able to play differently, to effectively create your own gameplay within the sandbox of the game.

A good example of a sandbox might be Fallout 4 where you might forget the stories and simply go off as a lone wolf survivor, exploring, leveling and surviving, without regard for any of the missions or factions or storyline other than incidental to your play. Or you might build impressive bases in the settlements and fight off attackers with your defensive turrets, and by better equipping the residents. You could make your own game within the game.

Obviously, sandbox in adult gaming is very rare. In fact the only game I can think of easily that truly deserves the label is the now abandoned Lab Rats 2, where you could choose to play as a pure business sim, or you could virtually ignore the business other than as a means to produce personal use potions to corrupt women. You might set yourself the goal of corrupting the entire population with serums, or you might choose to corrupt nobody at all and just focus on the productivity of workers... You could make up your own gameplay within the game.

There's a few more games with some sandbox element(s), for example 'Horton Bay Stories' where you can have a lot of autonomy, but most of those don't allow much progression outside of following the script so it is really more of a very detailed and functional Free Roam.

You drag the top tool into the right position and then drag the lower tool to the left to turn the cylinder and open the lock.

But while we are at minigames, can someone explain to me how the agility minigame works? It shows some squares and flashes them. What am I supposed to do?

For Windows the D key is for constant pulling, but you can also do it by pulling the lever with your finger if it is a touch device or with the mouse.

The Gallery isn't that good and the save options are limited.

If they can find a way to make the gallery like the playthrough then it would be alright
