there are 2 entrances into cathedral of oz, depending on which entrance you enter from certain sections will be gated off.

Is there an entrance other than the one near the sea of trees and the unlockable shortcut near the lava mine entrance? I don't think I've run into any other ways in that open different gates.
there is a stairwell going down in front of church,use that at night and enter a pub there one of the npcs has an option to remove ithow can i remove the chain ?View attachment 5574445

yea there's another entrance in the prologue area that requires the statues to enter, you probably forgot about it, since you had to get one of the statues from there.

Ahhh that's right! That was how I opened the shortcut in the first place and didn't go back since I was underleveled at the time. Thanks, that was driving me crazy!

Mhhhhhh , forgot ,Duh To be serious I think it's inside the poinson swamp or something like that , either near the village on the left /right . You can also use Mtool and no clip
I gathered 4 purified seeds and the flower, but the alchemist doesn't give me the option to make pure ether, and Hilda is no longer in the church but at the shrine maiden village. The only thing I'm missing I think is the tainted ring to enter the 5th layer, and I have to kill her to get it. Can someone tell me where I messed up so I can do it right next time, is it because I visited the shrine maiden village before curing her? I got the perfect fifth element, but how would I do this while not killing Hilda?

It's an item somewhere near the village in the poinson swamp , far left I think .

you more or less answered your own question, do not enter the shrine maiden village unless you've resolved all the quest lines you care about. in fact the game kinda warns you about it when you're about to enter.
You have to be careful to get that recipe. Near and out of the "demented village" in the 2° floor, there is a some strong poisonous red enemy besides the recipe that will give you the stealth capability. So, wear some clothes that would give you inmunity poison. If you have entered that village to buy these clothes you don't have to take so much time or Orcar would be killed in that village.
