VN Ren'Py University Trans-fer [v0.1.1] [AVNSnax]

I'll be blunt and say that it's nice to see a story featuring a transgender character who isn't a futa or forced to be a girl by means other than his/her own own choice(as in they're trans already inside and not turned into one or forced to accept their status due to others' actions).

That was certainly the intent. In my first draft of Confusion, Alex was a woman. It was a trans friend of mine who persuaded me to make Alex trans, citing the lack of true trans representation in adult games let alone in real life. That view has been "reviewed" rather harshly by a lot of people. That story should only facilitate as many sex scenes as possible. Men -> any hole -> cum. That gender is inextricably tied to whatever genitals you happen to have been born with. That "everybody knows" why people transition: to hide their gayness or only to satisfy some perverse kink.

Trans persons experience the same love, lust, and fetishes as anyone else. That's the fact I tried to convey in Confusion, and now UT. It's been a satisfying journey. Just not a particularly lucrative one.

How will this work with existing saves? Will they still work or do we at some point (hopefully sooner than later) have to restart?

It won't affect existing saves at all. The name that existed at the time of the save will remain unchanged. If you only want save games that feature the changed name, then yes, you'd have to replay from the start and resave with that name.

The main reason I pulled the feature was the inability to display changed names during replays. Because of the way that Ren'Py does it, everything is initialized to starting values before a replay is shown, including character names. Most games solve that by asking, point blank, for the player to provide what those names are supposed to be and did this event happen and what happened when that decision was made...that's always been too immersion-breaking for my liking. Especially if more than one character name is involved. I requested a change to Ren'Py to allow me to do it properly, and PyTom put a fix in the next Ren'Py release, v.8.5. It should have been released by the time the next UT release is ready to go.

AVNSnax congratulation for this new game. There will be a total transition of MC in the game?

The story as currently written never gets that far. It only covers the four years the MC is away at school, and I didn't write an epilogue like Confusion's showing life 20 years in the future. The choice will be discussed in game, but that's it.

Happy to hear this, the renpy replay system is lacking in a lot of regards, but trying to circumvent it was even more problematic in my experience.

Specifically, the new code allows you to pass dot-separated variables in the scope argument of renpy.call_replay(). The fix had been added to the github a long time ago, but it was low-priority and nobody ever merged it.

Everybody has an opinion and a moral center, and they're entitled to them. What bothers me is when people dictate that their opinions are the only correct ones, as if no one else gets a say. Kinda like walking into a restaurant with seafood on the menu and yelling "Anyone eating fish here is a degenerate asshole!" and stomping out. Like, just don't eat it if you don't like it. Or have something else like a sane person. (Or don't even go to that restaurant if it bothers you all that much.)

If the LIs are female, my MC preference would be Female>Futa>Trans>Male. But you really did something different and emotional with Confusion and it was still a huge step up from all the Male MC games flooding the market. Sure, it will never be as lucrative as Alpha Male Protagonist but it was definitely one of a kind and earned a name for itself for that reason. It was a great mix of serious and lewd, had a strong message, Alex was very feminine, it didn't shy away from arguably the most popular kink, and there was interaction between the 2 girls as well as just with the MC, even if brief. That was enough to hold my interest. The only criticisms I have is the change to the short hair, lack of any semi-harem ending despite the direction things went in during the game, and no scenes with the older...roommate, even if it was just for revenge. But those are just tiny nitpicks. You had a story to tell and told it masterfully. While I can't see myself playing this one as the MC seems way too masculine, hopefully that will be what gains you more interest and results in more subscribers. You deserve success for your talent and I wish you the best of luck. An artist with passion and vision is a great boon to the overall quality of a game.

Good start to a story that can take numerous turns for the good or bad. Hopefully this is the start of a great game. And ignore the transphobes, they just can't accept that they're in the extreme minority and not speaking for anyone but themselves

Thats most of the games here except the popular ones because there isn't that much drama to draw upon that doesn't require cookie cutter stereotypes. I mean look what we have here....Iowa farm boy goes to college and wants to be a woman. Let me guess super conservative parents and has super repressed feelings about dong?

Also side note: No one turns trans. You either have dysmorphia and start to transition or there is grooming/conditioning by societal or parental pressures aka the term I try not to use transtrender aka when being gay isnt special enough. I understand English has basically become word salad and I get what you mean, but a person forced to act like the opposite gender and forced into it is basically just mentally broken. It would mean little kids being forced into transitioning by their parents are the same as the people who have naturally developed dysmorphia and boy is that a whole can of worms lol. Those are not trans characters, they are mentally broken in some way. Usually gay with extra steps and they are super submissive.

The only difference between your VN and others is the character is in transition, everything else is the same as would be if the character was genetically female. It plays the same, the dialog is the same, and the peoples' reactions to events are the same. You tried to represent and did it right, your friend was smart in asking that- more games are needed, especially as the only ones who aren't just sex toys for the MC are secondary characters who are love interests or friends who can be avoided if the player chooses.

I peruse TG story sites and encountered several dozen women and a couple of men all of whom are trans and they all share the same thing: they're normal people. Same issues others have, same biases, hatreds, bigotries, and terrible traits as others. It's a true representation, even if slanted by you to be positive but not shying away from the negativity either.

Just wanted to say I like what I've seen so far. I'm trying to play a goody goody character at first. But I'm sure I will probably corrupt myself some along the way...lol. I like that apparently there are multiple options for the MC to pursue a relationship with. At least from what I've seen all the characters look really nice.
