VN - Ren'Py - Unleashed [v0.6b2] [CarbonBlue]

This game is definitely an up-and-comer. The MC is likeable and the models look decent as well. the skin however make all the characters look either plastic or undead. The writing is a marvel is the reason why I am recomending this game.I will upgrade my review once it gets more content.

Time to Complete: 1 hour. I timed 1 hour and 15 minutes on my playthrough.

TL;DR: It takes a bit of time to get a hang of, but it's a unique game with it's own style.

Note: I initially took this game as a 3/5 due to it's lack of pacing and weak story, but it's growing on me so a 4/5 seems more fitting.

[~] Story: This game is not a story game and as such, I'm not going to be harsh about it. Even were this game a story game, it being no longer than an hour long makes reviewing the story very difficult regardless. I'd argue the game has no more story than is absolutely necessary.

[*] Pacing: This game either has no pacing or a very fast pace. There are more renders than there are lines of dialogue and things happen in a constant stream with no pause. It takes some getting used to, but it did manage to grow on me after a bit.

[3.5/5] Renders: The renders are very hit or miss, ranging from good to below average depending on the scene, but do get a lot better towards the end of the game, so it's clear the dev is learning as he goes. Some frames have post work such as depth of field while others do not. If you can make it past the early parts of the game, the renders aren't all that bad.

[+2/5] Music: I muted this game because while this game does have music, it doesn't always have it. I'm also not a fan of the music choice, but that is not something to hold against the game.

[*] Style: This game has it's own style. I didn't initially enjoy it, but the more I play, the more I find that I don't find it all that bad. The game does a very good job at what says in the overview - "play[ing] around with your expectations." Through my playthrough, I was quite loudly talking to myself, asking "what the fuck?" at how some of the game's choices.

First of, CarbonBlue this is a substantially quality product you are making here,and so far you deserve every accolade you get either here or on patron(or any other site for that matter).Now to elaborate on above mentioned recommendation:

CHARACTERS

-On the first glance you have all the stereotypes regarding main girls,but as the game progresses I am absolutely sure carbon will make them...hm what is the word i am seeking....branch out(?) (he is on the good track regarding that already,as you people will see once you play the game).Cant leave this part out:Shannon is the BEST character currently in game and I cant wait to see how that path will turn out).

Dialogue:

Playful,sometimes dark and 100% funny when the jokes start dropping. 1 gazilion out of ten keep up the good work.

Story:

Is obviously under development ,and I have a feeling it will take us on a quite a ride.Something is rotten,we will see what exactly.

Renders,animations and other trivia:I like it,but everyone has their taste...personally i care more about the dialogue and well crafted story(yes im aware im writing this words on F95ZONE,but everyone with a tad of patience and "imagination" can make a porno vn with a "rich" storyline(hello madam,I hear your pipes are plugged,im sure i can land a hand wink wink ).Magnificent vn games are like fine wine....just take your sweet time carbon.

ps-I feel bad on leeching on such great games as BaDIK,COBD,WTHI(Being a DIK,City of Broken Dreamers and Where the Heart is) and this for now exceptional work,hopefully i will get a chance for a better job in my shitty country to be able to support these people in making their little slices of heaven.

I haven't noticed this game untill today, but I was very pleasantly surprised. The plot is fun and not overly complicated. Conversations are nicely written and get to the point. The pacing is great (you don't blow your load too soon, but there is no blueballing). Yeah, I didn't pull my dick out during playing, but somehow it didn't matter. I'd rather have fun reading the dialogue that is actually fun, makes sense, and is witty, than skipping it to get to some fap material. Weird, huh?

There are some games that have top notch renders, and the animations are amazing, and there is plenty of super hot "best girl" characters, but a lot of dialogue there feel like filler or it takes too long to get to the point. Dialogue here was engaging, believable and without unnecessary bullshit. I got the feeling that most interactions fit into the overall picture. Nothing felt like filler to me. And the best thing here is, that even though this game uses some very common stereotypes, it still manages to have it's very own personality.

Yeah, the MC's model could be better, have better skin textures, look more alive (he looks like an undead), but it's not that bad, so no starst down for that.

Only thing I disliked was Shirleen's hairstyle. She is too young for that kind of hairstyle. She was a kid at the time this was a typical trashy housewife hairstyle.

All characters are beautiful. Especially Shannon.
Shannon is my second favorite girl with freckles in all games.
My most favority femal is oliva. Not because she is a milf or she is initiative . Because she rises two daughter very good alonely. A great woman!

Really liked it!

There isn't much to see in terms of porn (one sex-scene and a single blowjob) but I genuinely enjoyed the humor. That Background conversation in the breakfast-scene on the first morning? Had to chuckle.

And I really like the visuals. Even if quite a few characters seem to be unaltered asset-store resources, they fit in with the rest.

This game is amazing! The introduction where two girls ironically insulting each other really kick-started my journey to read between the lines of the two humorous girls (Shannon and Angel).

In my opinion, there are two best characters; Maeve for the 'oh-so-typical-stereotype-ish' girl and Shannon, the best girl for character development and her lines.

I think it is possible to just play this game to see her reactions, comments and chit-chat between Angel and MC and it would be astonishing!

Animations - 5*
While the animation scenes are still low and the thunder scene was too unique, I think that it will improve in future updates..

Story - 5*
This type of story cannot go wrong; I think it needs a 5* for the spicy dialogue with Shannon and her character within the game.

Latest review: so far almost a year is passed since the last review but there is a huge delay in update i guess last time i wrote this for episode 4 but the update time took a long dip , so anyone seeing this should be prepared for a good game with a huge update time dropping from 5 to 2 unitil episode 6 . Will again turn to 5 when the updates are available.
Previous review:All renders are pretty neat been following the game since episode 1 . Time between updates is generic 1-2 month i guess, the story is based on college lifestyle and is so far intriguing. A lot of comic moment occur in the game hence worth a laugh. Waiting for episode 5 , will update the review with time to time.

This game is very good for a VN. The characters are more interesting, and the frequent choices in the game help to keep you engaged. So far there's only a few scenes, but it's got a lot of potential.

There's a few choices that result in a static screen, and being forced to do one thing or another, but It'll probably be fixed at some point.

A few things I'm personally not a fan of, but overall a good game, looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Interesting Story so far, crazy and funny characters and I fucking love maeve! Okay shannon and Angel are awesome too, I love their humor. But Maeve! I wonder if that werewolf has furr between her legs too...never mind. Great job so far, even the renders look pretty good. can´t wait for future updates. Keep it up man, you rock!

Good Points
+Girls looks hot. And they have good character development potential.

Bad Points
- The story is so basic, unoriginal, and not interesting at all. Classic ''Boy goes to another town for school and his family friend with 1-3 daughter give him a house to live in. And he starts making naughty things with them.'' Yes, we have some content about characters but nothing original, interesting, detailed, or well-written at all.
- Choices actually don't matter... You can be 'kind'' or ''perv'' but in the end, we saw the same dialogue. Even not choosing ''perv'' choices we will see some girls telling us ''perv'', which is quite nonsense.
-Animation quality needs lots of improvement and render quality could use some improvement as well.
- Updates take too much time and deliver very less amount of content. So the game lacks story content, images, and animations.
-Animations are not well-made at all and they do look awful.
-Even after patch updates/fix updates game is still buggy and shocking there are bugs known for a more than year and still not fixed...

For The End
This game has the good potential but the current state of the game is just poor, DEV needs to up his/her game and fix the bugs and bad points ASAP and stop making more consistent updates with more content.

The Story, The Characters, The Graphics...... CarbonBlue proves to be the next big name in VNs. The most anticipated game for me right now. Each character is well thought out. The story pulls you in extremely quick and I don't see anywhere that CarbonBlue seems to be slacking while making this game.

td/dr; This game is worth checking out. There isn't a ton of content yet, but it's off to a great start. Good renders and story content.

Note: There may be some slight spoilers, but I'll try to avoid anything major. This review currently covers version 0.4.1.

Story: So far I'm definitely liking the story. The MC model is good enough to understand why so many girls are flirting with him and the story doesn't start with everyone wanting to have sex with you immediately, which is good.

The story also has a hook. There are odd hints all over the place, and strange things happen when you select certain options. It feels a bit like Fringe or Lost in the sense that you'll invariably want to try to figure out what else is going on. We'll have to see how things shape up when the story is done, but for now it's interesting.

I particularly enjoyed the interactions with Shannon. She's quite... something. There's a fair amount of light hearted banner, which is quite fun.

Models/Annimation: The models are all of high quality and the renders are good. There are no real animations but there are quite a few renders and you'll want to pay attention to some of the interstitial renders.

Sound: There are no sound effects, but there is music and it comes and goes at the right times. Also, the music does seem to fit the scenes.

Final Point: I have no idea where this story will end up right now, but it's definitely worth adding this to your game collection.

This game shows a lot of promise. The renders are really good, interesting looking characters and not just another copy-paste of stock characters like most ren'py games, the story is short but it seems to go in a good and interesting direction, and the humor is actually very well done. Overall a fun game, hope it gets developed further.

Unleashed has a lot of potential. The character designs are well done, and the group dynamic shown in what the game currently has is intriguing. There's obviously a lot of behind the scenes stuff between the girls the story is just getting into so far. I'm enjoying the humor in the writing as well, but there are a couple of instances with fake error codes that are jarring the first time you see them. I do hope the updates get larger as the story continues, though I am under the impression from the Patreon page that hardware may be a limiting factor in this. Overall it's a good start, and I hope the dev gets more recognition as the game continues, this game deserves a play if you haven't done so yet.

Been playing this since it's 1st release and I have to say it's off to a great start. The character models look great and while no major overarching plot has been presented yet, this is one of the few VN's that I actually laugh at their jokes. (Especially the red-head, her lines are hilarious to me.) Overall I think this can be great and hope as it gets more popular releases continue to come out and bigger in size.

I know that not all games are for everyone. I happen to like this game and to be honest it is in my top 5. I happen to like all the girls however I do have a favorite. I happen to like Carbon's humor, I really do laugh out loud playing this game. It is worth a try in my honest opinion.

A bit of everything actually. Light hearted humor that can get pretty dark, with some drama sprinkled on top. Alongside a bunch of interesting and hot characters, plus a pretty chill MC all things considered. Really looking forward to more updates, definitely a game to watch.

Definitely an up-and-comer. Really high quality renders, the writing is pretty funny (although the characters are a little outlandish) and the UI is well put together. Biggest gripe is the lack of content at the moment, but that just makes me look forward to whats coming.

World: The MC is a good looking guy, not a generic slob. Girls fall for you "pretty quickly" --- but the immersion isn't completely broken/unrealistic.

Writing: Great writing and unique personalities for the girls. None of them are generic.

Visuals: Excellent models/renders. Even some unique use of lighting during a thunderstorm sex scene (spicy).

Limited sex scenes at the moment [Version 0.4]. What's there is ok - but really not enough to judge at the moment.

Foreplay/flirting/tension seems good though!.
