Hello, everyone!
As I said, I would keep you guys updated as I learned more. I originally had a virtual appointment scheduled with the oncology nurse at the university last week, but they had to reschedule it, and I finally had it today.
I didn't really learn much, which I expected. This was largely an informational gathering, so the nurse could collect all my info. She is now going to present my case to the surgeon and/or the panel of surgeons. They will decide what to do with me - either operate soon or wait. She did emphasize that this was Grade 1 and "well-differentiated", which are both very good things. She said I could very well have had this for 10 years, and that it was caught relatively early. This is something that I don't need emergency surgery on right away. They could potentially wait for months and just monitor its growth. These tend to grow about 1 cm per year.
But, of course, the complicating factor in my case is that it is right near my only kidney.
So what happens next is up to the surgeons. The nurse said I should hear back in around a week.
In the meantime I'm going to get back to work here. I've been trying - and mostly failing - to get back to work, but I think I'm ready to get my ass moving on things again. I'll let you guys know how it goes.
Until then, thank you all for your support and kind words!
