Changes to Story Content

We want to be transparent regarding recent developments around the Valenza Family project.

Due to increasing restrictions and pressure from platforms and payment processors such as Visa, Mastercard, Steam, and Itch, we are being forced to make changes to the story. Specifically, the incest-related aspects will be removed.

This was not my original intention, and I strongly dislike having to rewrite key elements that were central to the original vision. Unfortunately, the reality is that this type of content now risks projects being deindexed, blocked, or outright banned from major storefronts — which is not a risk I can take.

While this decision throws a wrench into my plans, I will do my best to keep the narrative gripping and dramatic, even if some elements must change. The heart of the Valenza Family story — the tension, power struggles, and emotional depth — will remain.

I hope you understand this difficult choice, but our hands are tied on this matter.

It's a pain all the restrictions creators now have to find their way through, really feel for them tbh, what boggles my mind is how violence is in general instead way more readily accepted also by prudes, but eh, diff discourse.

Well this will give the "mod" writers something to do *sigh*.
I think everyone is going to have to get used to that.
Incest is #3 on the list of items that can cause immediate termination of payout (with no notification).
If you have not noticed, the world in general is now controlled by credit providers.
Game developers are just at the forefront of this mess.
I can tell you without a doubt, Arcane was NOT happy about any of this, but the alternative is to be banned... everywhere.
While on F95, you can get games for free, almost no developers can make games with no income.

I would really like to learn Patreon's reason for its strict policy on incest specifically. It's full of games with rape, murder, violence, gore etc and all of those are fine but the instant two siblings kiss, you're getting nuked on the spot.

What prompted this? I know it wasn't always the case, and any argument you can make about how incest in real life is usually tied to abuse could be easily used for the other things I mentioned, and all of those are allowed, so ???

But in that case, what made them go after incest specifically? If it was controversial content they were trying to ban, you'd think they'd be consistent and also not allow rape, murder, etc. Hell, there are even adult games with underage characters in them.

Not wanting a platform associated with you to have controversial themed products I understand, just not why they only have a firm hand regarding one specific theme out of many.

From the thread I looked at earlier it listed the following as problematic content that they want to remove...

• Non-consensual content (real or implied)
• Underage or “barely legal” themes
• Incest or pseudo-incest content
• Bestiality or animal-related
• Rape, coercion, or force-related
• Sex trafficking implications
• Revenge porn / voyeur / hidden cam
• Fetish involving bodily waste or extreme harm (e.g., “scat,” “vomit”)

Well to me it seems making certain games just isn't feasible anymore, and that's a shame. Seems all we soon have are
boring vanilla games. I can smell more college setting incoming in the future. If I was a dev I'd just quit it's not worth it.

Guess I'll have to replay this to see what has change since the last update. As I might not like it anymore.

So the character sister is completely changed from family blood to childhood friend/secret lover that is involved in a contract marriage with other crime family?Is the contract marriage is an old setting or a new setting because I don't really read the codex before the change in game?

Since they haven't released an “unofficial patch,” it seems they've actually removed one of the most important parts of the game's main story.
The game has now lost most of its appeal. I don't quite understand why they did this instead of just changing a few lines of dialogue, but I wish them luck.
