I think no matter what with a game with this much customization freedom you are going to take some hit on ui/ux, unless you want to have a mode that acts as a more limited version, which is the sort of thing VamX tries to do.

There isn't a "good" way to sort thousands and thousands of morphs, hair pieces, clothes, textures, scenes. So while you could improve it for a VaM2, it's never going to be an easy, streamlined experience. Ultimately something like Illusion by default is going to be easier to manage because there is less freedom and overall capability in what you can do.

It actually doesn't even take that long to undersatand any games ui tbh. Just giving it a bit of time and you know almost everything in back of your head. its the same with vam 1 too. I guess getting grasp of ui stuff is too much for yellow paint enjoyers in games. Its not rocket science ffs but here we are welcome to "modern era".

Well VAM2 new beta is already delayed and Mesh talks about beta 2, 3, 4, 5... Considering how long it took to go to beta we can easily forget about this ;)
Is this from the Discord? so basically nothing to show for over a years "progress"?

It's why I say community should come together and build an open source version on a good engine.

Yes, it will be delayed - currently few weeks and release in January.

Yeah I don't really expect VaM2 to completely takeover VaM1 until it exits Beta phase. There are many betas planned after Beta1:
  • Beta2 - Skin Physics
  • Beta3 - Simulated Clothing
  • Beta4 - Simulated Hair
  • Beta5 - Animation
  • Beta5 - Fluids

Had "the community" decided to do this 5 years ago, it probably would have been worthwhile. Whether you do it out of Unity or UE5, chances are getting a VaM clone built before VaM2 is out of Beta seems like something that won't happen. Unless you want to spin up a fairly large dev team from thin air to outpace it.

If only there were more beta's we could soak up more patreon money to sit on... so Meshed's grandkids can have a legacy handed to them.
  • Beta6 - Wind Physics - 2030
  • Beta7 - Simulated Plugins - 2031
  • Beta8 - Simulated Application - 2032
  • Beta9 - Simulated Development - 2033
  • Beta10 - Simulated Release -2034

If there were a way to get VAM1 more performant and add decent looking (TrueFacials style) fluids I think 2.x taking long wouldn't matter too much.

But people are sort of capped on what they can do to fix performance via their own edits or plugins or what realistically can be added beyond content.

2.x needs to get to the point where people can make things for it, even if other aspects aren't finished, and it'll be fine.

Try this
with combination of setting shader to medium and hair quality to fast, i can't play VAM without this anymore. As for fluids true facials level of fluids is every vamies dream.

I'm aware of the performance patch, but even with this, VaM runs worse than it could had it been programmed better. Not unusable, but less well than it should.

For fluids, I'm somewhat surprised someone hasn't managed to work out a way to abuse the cloth sim with a decent shader to get better fluids. Launch a cloth, cloth has some mix of opacity to create depth and clumping, fake "stickyness" and things with cloth params. I don't know enough about the coding side to do it but it feels like there should be a way to get something better than existing options.

Actually most of the work are doing unity's parameters for multithreading. Meshed posted on discord countdown from 24 hours - maybe today new beta? We'll see.

It would be nice.
